252,000 miles, original head gasket. Temps according to Scanguage II hover between 180 and 190. Drain and fill yearly with toyota red.

It could be a loose vacuum hose.

1995 237,000 miles. 1 starter, 3 sets of LTX's, 5 pcv valves, Mobil 1 all around.

The silver lining being that the fire only destroyed things you can replace. I am concerned about the hood latch becoming useless during an engine fire.

I've had good luck with 0w-40. It has reduced the flow to the underbody quite a bit.

I read you post. Then I went and got a beer and read it again. I'd give it a 9.95. The highlight of my evening thus far.

I was "disappearing" about 1 quart every 800 miles using 5w-30. I changed to 0w-40 and now I only use about a quart every 1300 miles.

I sometimes get the smell coming from my ds wheel well. The only thing I can figure is that it's oil.

I use red and flush on a regular basis. So far so good. 232,000 and counting.

Yep, much better. Now I can't wait for my emblem to fall off so the wife will let me do this.

Mine also seems to stick from time to time, usually when at idle. The engine is idling smoothly but the tach needle jumps from 250 to 650 and back. Seems to only happen when the weather is cold.
