I remember that company causing quite a bit of controversy on FB GXOR a few years back... I think at the time it was something about the Class IV tow hitch not being rated... looks like it might be now.
As mentioned above, there are some nice rock sliders, e.g.: Slee. They can be painted your body color, add a strip or two of traction tape and unless one looks close, they'd be hard pressed to see it wasn't factory.
Aside from saving your rocker...
Driving the GX, you'll get spoiled over the high seating position and being to actually see several cars ahead of you!
I've had my share of Porsche's and other low slung cars. Driving them is fun until grid lock (left leg clutch cramp) or some...
You know, I've never had sliders on any vehicle and I've never crumpled a rocker or a door. Obviously different terrain, different use case, etc., means not everyone needs sliders. I personally am trying to keep this a stock+ build and as light...
Thank you!
Already read a ton! I couldn't believe the wealth of knowledge and info before I bought it, definitely influenced the decision! Wonderful threads and I thank you and the community a ton for it.
Miata is my other toy, 1996 (obd2 is...
No. First set lasted 201K.... The brass ones I found were either A: $40 each for good ones with bulge or B: barbed. I don't want to go with barbed and worm gear clamps. Would rather stick with OEM. The $40 option was great, but for $80 I get the...
My wife did the same thing with her factory "sliders" on her 100 series LC before I had to remove and toss them in the trash.
Congrats on your new toy!
Looks like a beaut! And it sounds like you have a great plan moving forward with...
Picked up a 2015 yesterday with every maintenance record done on the dot.
Excited to add it to my 'budget' fun garage and start adventures/off roading after a terrible experience with my Outback.
Skids and rock sliders first! Maybe a trim of...
I just decided to order both hose replacement kits with all the rubber and plastic. Might as well do it all and a flush while I'm at it. I didn't want to change the T and then have a hose go six months later. I've got 210K If the next set lasts...
On my G37 there is a plastic hose union to the heater core that has essentially near 100% failure rate after 10+ years, when I saw how many plastic Ts, Unions the GX has it got me a little worried. I'll probably replace them all with metal at...
It was only $40 on ebay but the real payment will be pulling my headlight out to replace it. I haven’t checked the fsm yet but I understand these endeavors usually require removing the transmission and rear pinion gear first.
I was looking for a "high 5" emoji for you. Being a med device R&D engineer I do exactly the same thing with most my purchases like car accessories, household items, tools, all my 3d printers, etc.
Sometimes to the point of analysis paralysis...
When everyone else see's a big 'ol mud hole on a trail, they all blast through it, slugging and sloshing through till when they come out the other side, their rig looks like it was painted Army desert tan.
I on the other hand, I tip-toe through...
I totally get it. I only know because I am an engineer that neurotically researches every tire purchase for hundreds of hours.
Why i like the 3MSF ratings. They mean a tire has a certain level of grip. I just hope they continue to evolve that...
You might think I would know that after spending at least 3 years in the tire industry but you're telling me something new lol.
Tires are usually the first thing I put on any off road "build" that I buy, but the GX was an exception this time...
