After installing the kit check and see if your caster is at 3 or 4 *, then tack spring perches in if pinion is reasonable, using stock springs, maybe, but I bet you find pinion angle unacceptable.
In my experience you cannot do a SOA, and achieve proper pinion angle & caster without a cut-N-turn. You can get one or the other. You can use the kit to set trunions at proper caster but you will find that leaves pinion flat. You can get a...
I planed my header and intake manifold on a big piece of glass with sandpaper to get it flat. I made longer studs and custom stepped washers to apply equal torque to the different thickness and used 2 Manny header gaskets put on wet. Stainless...
Don’t regret the PWM charge controller. That is what I used with my first solar set up and it worked great. I upgraded my system when I fell across a super deal. My first set up was only a solar generator. I’d run the fridge off the starting...
Thats what you get for a lock right, the corners on those squared teeth round off and every few revolutions, POP, POP, it will wear the splines on the axle as well. I have a 9.5 detroit you can have, just needs surface rust wire wheeled clean...
If you remove the manifolds a good straight edge will tell the story, proper hardware and tightening helps as well. Pig is a good source, follow his lead.
Those shock hoops are butchery, the wallered out holes in the frame same, and the steering conversion could be ok. whomever got ahold of that thing may have done other less than stellar work. Its all the little things like wiring, knobs, seals...
Funny if you think about the amount of plastic panels etc.... My 40 has a dash pad, fender flares, and a radiator overflow and some lite lenses.
Newer vehicles have a myriad of parts made from materials that just arent gonna last especially if...
"Thats the type of people who have 250k to spend on something strictly for nostalgia."
That is a narrow view of the world. Nobody says " Built to last a lifetime " snikering and saying to themselves, " This guys gonna die inside 10 years "...
The only part of my dash still oem is the ash tray and glove box door, it had a plywood cover when I got it. I guess over 25 years including the $3K purch price I have between $35K & $40K max in my 40. Came with hard doors and a soft top that...
That settles that - now we just need a couple of donkeys to name sprinkles & cupcake. Woy, if you ever make it out west again I'll introduce you to the left coast cupcake, he drives a Jeep.
E - current flow wise, what is the diff between a PWM on/off and a float mode ? I assume a float charge kicks in sooner than the on/ off which basically lets the solar assist the load before batt drops to whatever voltage the PWM would kick...
Just a mention - it is NOT good to connect a solar panel of more than say 15watts direct to batt without a controller, and IMO, even with a small panel a cont trickle could overheat/overgcharge batt.
