The "Official" 1HZ/1HD-T/1HD-FT Airbox/Intake Mod Thread

The deflector in the airbox I’m going to leave it there. You are right in everything you mentioned. However this routing and piping is the best I could come up with what hoses etc are available and being able to make it physically fit. Ideally I wanted a flexible hose from airbox to turbo...

G082503 from Donaldson is what I used. But there’s others variants aswell. They’re available with a 90 degree outlet wich is way easier, but I couldn’t source this one locally.

The "Official" 1HZ/1HD-T/1HD-FT Airbox/Intake Mod Thread

Update on the Donaldson airbox. I’ve made the piping from airbox to turbo bigger. 89mm all the way to the turbo intake with a flexible hose and a reducer elbow on the turbo intake. Since fitting this airbox I noticed a raise in boost pressure of 2 psi so I turned boost back down a bit. I...

The "Official" 1HZ/1HD-T/1HD-FT Airbox/Intake Mod Thread

Finally got to fitting the Donaldson filter in. I had to order different connectors and hose a couple of times to make it fit. I’m not 100% happy yet because the tubing between the filter and turbo is a bit longer then OEM and I maybe should’ve made it bigger diameter. I’ll see if I can make...

The "Official" 1HZ/1HD-T/1HD-FT Airbox/Intake Mod Thread

I’ve seen some here mention Donaldson filters. I had a look in their catalogue and looked for the biggest one that I can make fit. The listed CFM is less then I calculated for our 4.2 diesel, but anyway the filter element of the unit i got is approx 68% more surface area then the OEM filter...

    Spongy brakes

So a bit of an update on the problem. I’ve replaced the master cylinder once again, and replaced the booster with it. At first it seemed better, but after some driving it’s clearly not any better. So now every part in the brake circuit, except for the ABS pump, has been replaced or rebuilt. And...

    Spongy brakes

What symptoms did you have with your booster? I wanted to rebuild the old one but it has the rear part of the piston jammed inside, probably was pumped to the death while bleeding once in it’s life so I needed replacing anyway. Will rebuild the new one I have and check for marks inside.

The sensing line from the front is the one that has the bleeder on the LSPV, that’s why theres a bleeder. Before the brake hoses. At the ABS pump.

Correct Correct The rear port was reconnected and bled. Yup If I could source a pressure gauge with adapter this could be an option. However this is simple hydraulics, really not complicated. It really should not be difficult, but indeed this is getting so frustrating and time consuming...

    Spongy brakes

I’ve plugged the line to the rear calipers and bled, no difference. Then I plugged the line to the front left side caliper and bled, this gives me solid pedal!! No more spongy pedal! Connected again and bled, plugged the line to the front right caliper, gives me a solid pedal aswell...

    Spongy brakes

Yep the bleeders are pointing up, had a friend make that mistake before :) Yes Everything checks ok, and yet still this mistery remains unsolved. I’m gonna try plugging front left , then front right, and then the rear brake linea one by one and see if it makes any difference in pedal feel. And...

    Spongy brakes

Here can you see the rise and drop of the fluid level. To me it looks normal as when the piston gets pressed, the Front piston seal moves passed a tiny compensating hole wich connects the body of the MC to the reservoir, but still not too sure about it. An OEM rebuild kit is ordered for the...

    Spongy brakes

Did some more testing today, I found that when I press the brake pedal, the brake fluid level rises up, when releasing, it drops again. is this normal behaviour due to a compensating port from cylinder to reservoir, our does it automatically mean leaking seals? Anyone could check this on his...

    Spongy brakes

Would this not be against the common sense? Not saying it didn’t fix your problem, but what would the logic explanation be for the booster being the problem?

    Spongy brakes

A faulty new master could be, but it would be unlikely I think. It must be either air, or a seal in the master or the ABS pump leaking internally. I’ve agressivly pumped it while the pressure bleeder was doing it’s think, bleeder open only slightly for some resistance. I can do one more time...
