    New smittybuilt winch 8K crap?

Rebadged MileMarker? A MileMarker is a rebadged TMax... :) The main housing and gears definately look like TMax stuff. Sometimes the MM and other brands they make have bushings instead of bearings etc. I've seen MM's without gaskets and no bearings- but I think they all have bearings now...

    anyone selling a "hitch basket"?

I got one similar, but maybe not quite as nice, at Wally Mart for $55. Not fancy, but going on 4 years with it.

    Inside Fuel Storage

I've seen fuel cells that are wide and shallow- Something like that would work ok, using a cheap electric transfer pump. When fitting long range tanks underneath, consider that anything outside the chassis rails on the sides would not be road legal.

New England! - Fall Gathering 9/28,29,30

I had a great time too! What a great bunch of people and some of the nicest Toys I've seen. Definately count me in for any future events. I'll try to find a Cruiser between now and then- and thanks for not ragging on my Land Rover! :)

    Sports car comparison

Bimmers are reliable if maintained. I had an old one with 160K miles on it, 20K of that being on Summit Point Raceway. Avoid the dealers for parts- no worse than any other decent car. None of the cars on the list are really sports cars, but I'll throw a vote in for the 300ZX- but only if you...

    Sports car comparison

aging BMW M3's are all over the place- many are grocery fetchers. Aftermarket support is good. Go European... once you do, it's hard to drive anything else. I found one recently for $11K with low miles, all documentation, adult owned... they're out there.

    Source for surplus "Jerry" cans?

If you don't need 'em in red or blue like EE has, but the olive drab will do- new ones are $29 at dap-inc.com The spouts are more expensive than some other places, but they don't leak on your feet while fueling.

    school me on radar detectors

I vote for the V1 also- love the amount of info and the remote display. Bummer is the big unit has to be stuck to the glass though- why don't they make an antenna that doesn't LOOK like a radar detector for the glass- maybe have it look like those goofy rain sensors or compass mirror sensors...

For Those Of You With GPS Units In Your 80's.... Input Please

Garmin 376C- XM weather and XM radio are a nice touch. Having near real time radar overlay on the map along with detailed forecasts etc is a nice feature, especially when visiting areas with unpredictable weather. If you enter an area with a wx warning, it will tell you and display a red box...

Cosco's Mile Marker PE8000 Electric Winch?

Unless things have changed, MM electrics were made by TMax. The MM's sometimes had bushings instead of bearings and cheaper switches etc. I've had great success with TMax so far- never had a bad Superwinch either. I think most complaints on the MM's is slow line speed. Are Warn still made in...

    Scepter vs. Wedco Gas Cans

Wedco also makes NATO spec cans as well, with flip top and locking pin. Available in D.O.T. colors and NATO colors. I believe every British, German and Spanish military vehicle is sporting Wedco these days.

    review your Roof-Top-Tent

Since there are some mentions of 'other' tents, I thought I'd throw in my experience with mine. I installed a Maggiolina Extreme over a year ago and have nothing but praise for it. It goes up easily, packs away easily. The mattress is exceptionally good. It's a little too much like a coffin...

    Pop-up trailers?

I had the Fleetwood Evolution off road camper and liked it a lot. you can't go ANYWHERE without people commenting on it. It had all the bells and whistles and seemed to be decent quality- but I've seen other brands that aside from minor trim, are identical. I don't know if they copy each other...

    Expedition Tips & Tricks

For security, I cut an old dark blanket in the shapes of my windows and install them on the inside with suction cups that have little hooks on them. Sometimes leave a multilingual 'do not disturb' sign from a hotel visible between the blanket and windshield. Essentially, it makes NOTHING instide...
