2005 LX470, we've been doing a lot of stuff to bring this beast back to it's full glory, but this one's a head scratcher.
Little background: lots of little (and big) projects on this LX (bought it w over 300k miles), one of which was replacing the digitizer for the screen. Got it working great...
Good call on the storage space, I think that's a no-brainer. My ambitious 17 yr old son already tore the console apart and pulled the cd changer out. He actually took changer apart trying to fix that. Found some coins and stuff in there but it threw errors again once installed. He also replaced...
Whoa whoa whoa, are you saying I’m overthinking this (again)? Didn’t realize it could be so simple. This is awesome.
I’m assuming with this plugged in you’d simply hit the CD button on the factory radio and it would engage this interface?
I've been mulling over how to get an audio Aux input into these integrated Nav systems. If your CD changer is like mine, it's dead.
So I wonder: is it possible to wire an aux input into the existing CD changer harness? At least two of those pins on the receptacle are for audio. I imagine the...
Great write-up! I'm thinking this will be a more common need as our vehicles continue to age. One question: does this digitizer part fit the LX470 as well? I can't imagine it not, but their website only lists the GX470 and Land Cruiser as a fit.
In regards to our work-in-progress 2005 LX470 (307k miles, Slee 3" lift, deleted AHC):
We bought this LX just a few weeks ago and have been going through the long list of items to make the LX great again. The biggest mystery at this point is the steering system.
Here's the issue/symptoms:

The records show that the lift and sliders were done at a local shop that specializes in Land Cruisers. What's the preferred way to mount sliders? Anything I should fix based on what you're seeing?
So I went out on a limb this last weekend and picked up a 2005 LX470 w over 300k miles. Meticulous maintenance records, all kept and done at the local Lexus dealer. Seller had to get rid of it for cheap, so I couldn't help myself. We're selling our faithful 2000 Land Cruiser and ended up getting...
I’ve got a unicorn 100 series Land Cruiser right now. It’s a 2000 but only has 144k miles on it. Been garaged stored it’s whole life, exterior is black, and we’ve done regular maintenance. It was previously owned (we bought it seven years ago) by an airline mechanic who was OCD about vehicle...
Correct, it was not an unplugged harness, simply that wire bundle that passes by the alternator. Checked it again today, same issue. No dash lights at all (again) but zero charge to battery.
Follow up: I went back and started it up about an hour later. Started without issue, maybe slightly sluggish but not bad, idled great, NO dash lights at all. So I threw a volt meter on the battery while idling and it’s starting reading was 11.8 volts, still low but higher than when I left it...
Hi All,
Just went through my first time changing my alternator on my 100. Here's the story:
Alternator has been whining/groaning for over a year now, so I figured the time was coming to replace it. The other night, started the Cruiser and the battery light came on. Lights seemed kinda dim, so...
