I am proud to be a part of Solid Axle Summit! I enjoy the people I get to work with, and I enjoy the people that get to join us. I like putting names and faces to mud-handles, though I do not remember them all, but I do try. We, directors and...
As always, my favorite event. My favorite people. Thankful to share these trails with some amazing people and countless laughs along the way. Even convinced my brother to join for a day. Is it August 2026 yet?!
Cheers
I am going to take a lesson from Jesus and bring a cooler full of waters and pack a sawzall. I am really glad that you are okay, Allan. I was really concerned when I saw your Cruiser on the side and you were nowhere in site. What a relief when I...
Well Retro went to SAS9 and did not fare well. Ended up on her side (flop!).
On Monday of SAS9 took her up Mineral to Poughkeepsie to corkscrew. After the wall, which Retro cleared, had a mishap on the next obstacle and over she went...
Is this Matt #2? I knew that you would get hooked and participate in this community. Let me know if you want help finding your next 40 project. SAS10 is right around the corner.
So did you, Bob. Do you have any pictures of your truck coming down this?
I’ve never had so much fun on Black Bear.
Lee told me later that he shifted three times while driving down this obstacle.
I don't know what I messed up to show them twice. Colorado sure does have great camping!
Top pic: No filter, just got lucky with the android phone cam. Background looks like a painting.
Cool shots! The guy in the Unimog went down Black Bear right before me and he said that was his first time on the trail. He went up Poughkeepsie the next day. Apparently he lives a few blocks north of me. Small world.
What a week!
Ask @OlYellr about this one...
Nothing like a little twilight airing up with ambient light provided by @1969 ToyotaFJ40
This guy was a hoot to talk to. I saw from another photo posted here that he also took this on Black...
Great pictures this year. Nice to see all the animals , non truck pose and hiking pics . If it's 100 yrds off the trail My fat old ass never sees it. For anyone in the area a few of us are going to do a overnighter to Crested Butte to see the...
Big thanks to all the organizers. This was my first SAS; had a great time and am looking forward to next year with a "small" list of upgrades already!
Also, thank you to our trail lead, @OlYellr who put up with our crew all week and did an...
Thanks to Casey and crew for an amazing event! We decided to keep the spirt alive and remote camped in one of my favorite spots on the San Juan on the way to Flagstaff.
Allan, thanks for letting me know about my coolant leak. Every t-bolt clamp had come loose and it looks like the nylon in my locknuts melted, which is not surprising. I was very close to losing a lower hose. I will replace the hardware with...
I didn’t realize that any other year had the rectangle reverse light. I agree with Potato Launcher. Weld in some structural pieces and keep the patina. I wish that I had.
