My Cruiser was struggling to start and watching the Victron shunt and it was clear that the alternator wasn't charging like it used to. I purchased a new reman AC delco Jaguar alternator from RockAuto and installed it over the weekend. The jag...

Eric J installed the cheapest ebay compressor and clutch and it lasted 10+ years before it died. I installed a RockAuto denso unit 12 years ago along with expansion valve and drier. The Denso was twice the price of the offbrands but I have ice...

Just replace the whole thing man, compressor with clutch. Even if you use a cheap unit from rock auto, it'll work for a few years. It would be best if you replaced the expansion valve/orifice tube and flush as well, but do it. I put a whole kit...

Aliexpress is clutch for connectors. Shipping takes forever though. I incorrectly ordered three female connectors (didn't notice the ad defaulted to female and the picture showed both male and female) when I needed males. Waited a month, got...

Today's project has been getting my skid plates ready to weld on the 80 - I did some CAD(Cardboard Aided Design) followed by some actual AutoCAD, and had them cut on the plasma table at work. Plan was to use 3/8", but they didn't have enough 3/8"...

Continuing to (finally) update the lighting on Ft Knox. The old reverse light that I previously mounted in the spare tire carrier did its job over the years, but I bought a 4-pack of LED pods pretty cheap on Amazon, with the plans to put a...

I also cleaned up the wiring pn my homemade QPM. The fuse box is currently powering a remote controller relay. I will be adding a Victron 100/30 MPPT to the bottom of the QPM for solar charging.

It's an AC Delco alternator for a Jaguar. The first one only last 5 years but it was covered in mud.

I finally replaced my military terminals with something nicer. New reman Jag 140A alternator installed. Only minor trimming to make it fit.

Added these. Totally worth it IMO. I wish I had them when I drove it across the country.

N Is it possible to cause this kind of damage by overfilling the grease in the balls? No, the extra grease will come out in the wipers. You might have some big chunks bouncing around the front differential. That could cause binding but it...

How much grease was in the hub around the locking nuts? Those locking nuts hold the wheel bearings. This should be a fairly greasy mess. If it was clean, the bearing could be bad however my guess is there's a problem with the birfield since the...

Yeah man, I bought some beadlocks for my 80 and they came with these tires, I took these tires off and mounted some km3 35s. These tires are like new, just wanted something else, thats the only reason. I ran them for a day lol and I do like the...

Unfortunately I have to back out. Alternator on the Cruiser decided it wanted to retire early.

I kept meaning to reach out and send you the photo I took of your pupper. I didn't get to use it in Trails for the Relic Run article, but thought you should get to see it.

Why are you selling? The yokohama's are my next tire but I need a 315/75R16.

I used scotch locks. The scotch locks initially work by piercing the wire jacket. This leads to corrosion and eventually the wire will break in two. I soldered in Dean connectors instead and wrapped them in shrink wrap.

And for future searchers... The OP picture of wiring - do *NOT* use scotch locks for 'tapping' into wires and even more ***NOT*** for external wiring in weather/mud etc. They work until they don't and become a corrosion nightmare to the wires...

After doing an axle job, I typically grab my hubs with my hands to make sure they aren't too hot. I haven't been burned yet.

Once the bolt is off, the balancer should just slide right off the crank. The bolt is torqued to over 300 ft./lbs. It's going to be tough to remove. Place a long 3/4" breaker bar and socket on it with a ratchet strap holding it tight against...

Yes, you have to remove the harmonic balancer retaining bolt. The puller is designed to fit into the chamfer in the threaded hole; you're not going to damage anything. If it still won't budge, you'll have two choices: 1) » use an impact wrench...

How do your fluids look? Are you noticing heat at the hubs? Does it coast to a stop quickly? This is a fantastic forum but we need more information.
