I've driven my 78 40 back and forth to San Francisco from Santa Cruz for work a few times. 85 miles each way. It takes about full tank of gas to do the round trip. It turns what is normally a 1.5 hour trek each way into a loud, tough 2-2.25 hour grueling slog. I get thumbs up all over the place...

I'm going to check the torque on the manifold bolts today, it's a drag though, looks like I need to pull the carb off again to get access to the top bolts. There's a heat sheild attached to a EGR insulator plate that prevents me from getting the socket on the bolts. Bummer. Oh well...

Probably not going to bring the short bus back out to burningman; a word to the wise- the alkali out there took years (no kidding on that) to get rid of, and it caused scale/rust to form almost everywhere. Prior to bringing it onto the playa, I had lots of rust free shiny steel spots from years...
