99.99% of the time, if these air flow meters malfunction, it’s not because they need to be cleaned, it’s because the internal components has broke loose or melted.

Not necessarily a risk of damaging if it’s only a couple of days. If you do it for long, it won’t be great for your system. By the way, the resolved issue turned out to be the Air Flow Meter

OK, everyone, update. I climbed under the cruiser and unplugged the oxygen sensors. Both of the connectors, but especially the one on the outside were corroded and watery. I cranked the truck, and it idle more smoothly than it did when they were plugged in. I’m thinking, clean the connectors...

Done already, no difference.

I cleaned it with MAF spray. And yeah… I did take off the screws. But I didn’t yank it out… I just pulled a little on it, until I saw it wasn’t doing to come all the way out. I did not think I had pulled enough to do any damage…
