Replace the tie rod end boots or the whole thing?

Havent checked any other components yet. Just saw the tie rod end boots were torn and stopped there. It was a fairly quick happening, went about a week without driving it and then discovered this wobble that nearly ripped the wheel out of my hand. Thought the wheels were coming off! I will just...

Replace the tie rod end boots or the whole thing?

I had that "death wobble" in the front end also and went straight to the tie rod ends and both my boots are torn open, so no grease. I was told (here we go right!) that just replacing the boots and greasing it would fix it, vice replacing the entire tie rod end. Obviously it would be cheaper...

Still cant keep the 62 from stalling out

Yeah, that is confusing! I left out a big part of the story!! I found a fuel leak at the FPR...a bad one, so I pulled the new FPR and found the brand new O ring was broken so I took it back to Advance and they gave me a new one. Slapped that on in and she has been good to go ever since! Sorry...

Advice on prepping a 62 for a 6 month layup??

Im heading to San Diego for 6 months of training and I need to store my cruiser. My efforts to sell my 1988 62 didnt pan out, so Im gonna keep her. In the past when Ive had to leave for months at a time (occupational hazard!:D), Ive have stored my old trucks in the garage. Ive never had to...

Still cant keep the 62 from stalling out

Little late posting this, but I got the Cruiser running again! The fuel pressure regulator was the problem! After a fuel filter, diagnostics, a lot of not so nice words and it was the FPR. If I had just changed it first like one of the posts in the FAQ section said, I would have saved a lot of...

Still cant keep the 62 from stalling out

Thanks Chris, I took the line off the FPR and dry as a bone, not one drip came out. Im gonna start back tracking down the fuel lines in search of a leak.

Still cant keep the 62 from stalling out

Hadnt thought of that. I know its getting fuel at least to the output line of the fuel filter because I had to tighten it up due to some leakage. I will check the line at the FPR. Thanks for the suggestion!

Still cant keep the 62 from stalling out

Well if you have read this lengthy post you know that I have done the following to fix my stalling 62: 1. Replaced Fuel Filter 2. Replaced FPR 3. Checked diagnostic codes 4. Checked the FPS (all connections reading exactly where they are supposed to) So I still have a cruiser that wont...

Still cant keep the 62 from stalling out

Mike, I visually checked all the hoses and around the valve cover. everything is at least connected. None of the vacuum hoses look to be dry rotted. Anything more in depth that I should do with regard to vacuum leaks?? Probably so huh?

Still cant keep the 62 from stalling out

Okay, heres the latest. I changed the fuel filter today, FPR yesterday and still no start. I checked the ECM codes and got the following: 2-1: O2 sensor (blah blah) 4-1: Throttle Position Sensor The Haynes says to use feeler guages to check continuity and if not in specs, then rotate TPS...

Still cant keep the 62 from stalling out

Um...whats an ECU code?? How do I check that? Sorry! The only addition from the other thread is: Problems started when I let the daily driver sit for 2 weeks, never had any problems before that. Went to start it after 2 weeks of not driving it and the stalling out problem started. The FPR is...

Still cant keep the 62 from stalling out

After searching the posts here on this issue I went ahead and swapped the Fuel Pressure Regulator on my 3FE. Pretty simple swap for a pricey part! Anyway, the truck fired up like it has been then after a minute it died. (It has been doing this for almost a month by the way. ) Before I changed...
