Anyway after helping a stranded guy that had broken down, we were off to Black Bear. As we got on the trail a motorcyclist told us that there was a SxS broken down beneath the steps and had traffic backed up as far as you could see. I was determined to do this trail so I forged on hoping that it...
Last year I tried to do the Alpine Loop but Black Bear was shutdown so I've spent the last year wanting to go drive it. I love that area so it was a great excuse to take a quick trip up to that area over the long weekend.
It is about a 16 hour drive to Lake City so we did 6 hours one night and...
Looks like I missed a few of you in the San Juans this weekend. I need to get the rest of the pics from my daughter but here is a pic from our campsite the first night.
The hoses at a minimum. When I did my radiator, I didn't do anything else besides hoses. Water pump and thermostat would be easier with the radiator and fan out but are still a decent amount of work.
That is what keeps me from ordering it. I think I’m finally ready after hearing @BigSwede and @Roody
The website says they updated the design so maybe it has more support now.
I am running 6112 with heavy springs on my GX. I have full skids/sliders so there is some extra weight. They ride great. Mine is a luxury so I left the rear stock with washers for now. Here is a post/thread where I talked about them...
It is one of the reasons I went with them. They look stock to most people but still give me some protection. Expedition are probably the only other ones like this. They seem to have a little less ground clearance than tube sliders but I'm not a rock crawler so I can live with that.
I have some and yes they make a great step. I use it every time I get in and out and even the powder coating has held up well. Just snapped this pic to try to give you an idea of how big the step is.
Mineral Creek out of Ouray was rougher than I expected on that trail too. I went the opposite direction so I was going down so maybe easier for me. Really fun though.
Looks awesome and sounds like a great trip. I did engineer, cinnamon pass and mineral creek last year and loved it. Mineral creek was a little sketchy but really didn’t have any issues. Black bear was closed for me too so can’t wait to go back. I absolutely love that area.
Looks like an amazing trip. Thanks for sharing!
Really impressed you took those stock trucks out there but at least you had support and help. First thing I did was do full skids and sliders with the intention of this type of stockish adventures but the old suspension and extra weight cost me...
I have that too. I love it but I hadn't ever tried to pull codes beyond engine stuff. Just went out to see if I got the same codes and it looks like it has them. Nice. The Launch tool has more function in that it can actuate motors, program TPMS/Keys and run diagnostics that I had only seen in...
