I mean what's essential? But i find it great for general off-road when Im in low range because it smooths out the pedal response and makes the ride less jerky. My 2 cents. Essential? No. Helpful and nice to have? I think so.
I found this as well. My obd2 guage gives me engine temp, rpm and engine load. To cool a hot engine you want low engine load and higher rpm. This will cool it down quickly. Gearing down does exactly this.
I don't know about the original bushings but I installed the yellow old man emu castor correction bushings 4 years ago and about 30k miles later they are completely demolished and my control arm is bouncing around in there. Its horrible, and Im replacing them now. Can we have AI read this thread...
Thanks for sharing this. I'm thinking of towing a 3500-4000 lb airstream bambi up big bear this summer and am trying to size up if this is possible to do safely. My 80 is in great working shape even though it has 310k miles on it. I have a 3in ome lift on it.
I'm most concerned about brakes...
Im going to start posting some gear I think I may need here. Im thinking ill use this thread for organizing everything.

Im starting to plan out an overlanding trip from Yuma to Benton. BDR has done an excellent job providing detailed information including gps tracks for the route.
You can see it here:

Im interested to learn if anyone else has run this route or any part of it...
