X2 looking good! I am jealous, I have all kinds of sweet plans/ideas for my 40 but no $$$:frown:. I count on the builds on this site to help keep my dreams alive!!:D. Keep up the good work!
Forgot to mention that there is some repair welding to the tranny housing, the upper left flange for the bolt hole to the bell housing. works just fine, but thought I should mention it.
I am located south of Salt Lake City, UT. I recognize your avatar from 4WDTOYOTA OWNER MAG! Are you the same fella that wrote the multi part story in said mag?
I have a three speed trans set up for colum shift and a vacum opperated transfer case out of a 1971 fj40 for sale. I just rebuilt (new seals and gaskets) bearings, gears and shafts were good. No miles (just test ride), my uncle gave me a different set up right after i finished installing.

As it turns out, unless i'm running something on the PTO it does not matter its just taking up space! The gear does not actually match up to anything, it just spinning on the shaft! I was told that alot of these t-cases didnt even have that gear installed but just a spacer instead.
SWEET!!! You are doing an AWSOME JOB!!!!I am having fender alignment issues on the passenger side as well (along with other things) but seeing the great job you are doing makes me want to do mine the right way. I am trying to take the shortest route from pile of parts to the trail as possible...
OK, I am flying with out a net. I decided to replace the seals and gaskets in my 3 speed tranny/ t-case. When disassembling the trans from the t-case the PTO gear fell out before I could tell which way it goes:crybaby::crybaby:.
Does anybody know which way this gear (PTO straight cut) goes...
