Hi guys. I recently acquired most of a 2F engine from my boss who is doing an LS swap on his 60. My original 2F siezed about a year ago so I am taking all the functional parts off of my original and transferring them to the 2F that he just gave me, including the flywheel. Can anybody give me...
Do you guys think I should rather do an engine swap? I really love the 2F and I have spent months learning every little thing I can about these engines but everywhere I turn, I have people telling me to switch to a V8. I usually ignored it because I really trust the old motors. Am I being stupid?
I had water in my engine block around my cylinders. I used a syringe and a piece of fuel pipe to suck out as much as I could. Today I decided to remove my oil sump to see what was going on in there. I found some thin shards of metal in the sump as well as some shards of metal lodged in between...
Hey guys. I recently got my van(non USA fj60) running after installing a new distributor. She ran terrible until i decided to give static timing a shot. This changed everything and she idled like a dream for about 5 minutes and then the engine seized. (yes, I made sure she had enough water and...
It didn't come with the dizzy. The new dizzy didn't come with a clamp. Thank you for the advice anyway. I might try and use tape to beef it up as you suggested. Nothing worse than getting a new part and not being able to test it. 😂
Mine isn't like that. I have a collar that is fastened to the engine block with a single bolt. And it has a horizontal slot for a 10mm bolt which I loosen/tighten to fasten or loosen my dizzy to rotate for timing. I'm assuming that the collar is somehow worn down/bent so it won't make contact...
I got the dizzy installed perfectly. However, when I went to tighten the collar, it doesn't keep the dizzy locked in, no matter how tight the bolt is. Will I have to buy a new collar?
Thank you. My rotor does point in that direction when the number 1 cylinder is at TDC compression. One more question. When I take my old dizzy out now, I must obviously point the rotor on my new dizzy to the exact same position as the old one before dropping it in, right?
The thing is, my van doesn't run at all at the moment. I tried to do the timing a while ago but I failed because I couldn't keep the van running due to her dying everytime I loosened my dizzy hold down bolt to rotate the distributor. That's why I decided to try a new distributor and see if it...
I memorize where number 1 would be on the dizzy cap and then I place the cap back on to double check when I think the rotor is pointing at number 1. I am aware of the fact that at TDC, the rotor should either be pointing to number 1 on the cap or number 6 on the cap. Mine is pointing to 4 on the...
Yes sir. It's a 2F for sure. I'm just confused because my understanding is that when the pointer is lined up with the TDC line on the flywheel, that the rotor of the dizzy should be pointing to number one on the cap.
