    previous hackjob on Choke knob?

I finally got fed up with the wonky choke cable on my '82 FJ60. It got very sticky - hard to pull out, hard to push in, and then I found that thin collar that held the housing in the dash was just popping off when I'd try to push the choke in. So I ordered one of the new ones, and figure that...

Specs for Choke Cable Nut (for dash mount)?

Sadly, I had already purchased one of the "newer" ones (for the '83 to '87s - my rig is an '82, which doesn't have the Choke dash indicator) from JT Outfitters,, which comes without the panel nut or the knob. Argyre

Specs for Choke Cable Nut (for dash mount)?

Thanks, BurntToast! Lovely to see the dash mounted throttle cable, but it is rather more robust than the choke. there are two threaded parts. The one on the end of the cable is metal, and is on the end of the choke that gets pulled out. It threads into the choke knob. it has fine threads, and...

Specs for Choke Cable Nut (for dash mount)?

Thanks, garfieldthecat! However, part numbers are NOT the specs I was looking for. I have the parts diagrams and numbers. But that does NOT tell me the diameter, or the threading or pitch. Which makes trying to find a suitable part tricky. Yes, I had already ordered one of the ones that are...

Specs for Choke Cable Nut (for dash mount)?

Anyone know the specs for the Choke cable nut? This is for the later FJ60 cable, which has the electrical connector for the Choke indicator light. This nut is for mounting the cable intothe dashboard.

Choke Cable replacement for '82 FJ60? (PRE 10/1982, when they switched to the choke cable with electrical connection)

I have a venerable '82 FJ60, but the choke cable has gotten very sticky. The only replacements I see on the market are the ones for FJ60s from 10/82 onwards, which have the connection for something electrical. Not sure whether the electrical component is for the knob to light up (to remind you...

Parting Out 1988 Fj62 Hj60 Body (Virginia) Part out and Body Cuts

I'd happily pay for about a foot of rain gutter, or rain gutter and sheet metal running up about four inches above the gutter, if it's not rusted out. (perferably from above the rear passenger door.) Have some long delayed rust mitigation projects that need to happen, and while welding in th...

Replacement options for Heater Hose 87245A ???

I've looked at the thread where they discuss all of the coolant and heater, so I am unsurprised that this one is no longer available. However, I have a difficult time believing that no one else has had this hose fail on them, and needed a replacement - I figure someone has come up with a hose...

Toyota Dash Rocker and Push Switches

I pulled one of the switch dummies in my '82 FJ60, and the dimensions of the cutouts (based on the idea tha tthe plastic plug is aclose fit) would be 25 mm wide, by 33 mm tall. The round plug to the lower right of the steering wheel, which is for the Hand throttle option, has a punch out that...

    rebuilding a rusty roof

A year later, and I'm working on doing some of this kind of repair to my drip rails, to keep my '82 going for as long as possible. And I have to say, looking at the handy cutaway photo the OP provided, showing the cross section of the side of the truck, the drip rail, and the roof cap, I'm kind...

Wanted  Where to buy chunks of body work?

My '82 FJ60 has some rust spots that I am suddenly motivated to repair. And, while I feel pretty good about being able to weld in some patches where the body work is flat, or close to it, when I have a more complex piece to fix, it seems that gettgin a matching hunk of body to weld into place...

Advice on dealing with rain gutters on FJ60

I've looked over the various threads on dealing with removing rust and cracked ancient putty form the rain gutters, and applying new self-leveling putty, etc. My question is, does that putty apply directly to the bare metal in the bottom of the gutters (after they've been cleaned and all old...

    Parts problems- fj60 drum hardware

Thanks! I'll have to remember to look there first. Cruiser Corps had previously been good for parts. Not sure what others do who get the pre-packaged collection of drum brake hardware for the 60, and discover there is no way you can install the pins and springs supplied.

    Parts problems- fj60 drum hardware

Anyone else have this issue? Rebuilding my drum brakes (because of frozen bellcranks). Ordered the "hardware kit"(springs, C or U clips, cups and hold do w n pins or "nails"). Every thing seems to be correct except the pins and springs. They shipped TWO sets (4 each) of the pins, in two...
