Just a mild-weather update. Temps in the 70s, truck will crank but not start. Starter motor just runs and runs. I have no clue where to start looking.
Edit: immobilizer light is blinking. That’s probably a clue. When I first got this thing, I thought I had an immobilizer problem, but it turned...
Everything from the filter box to the throttle body. No hoses or clamps.
With the power steering symptom now clear, I have this unholy mix...the common elements seem to be vacuums, high temperatures, and vapors of some kind. Most of this goes away in the cold weather. I'm stumped.
Oh! Sorry about that. Post #9 in this thread. Trucks stalls when turning steering Wheel -Nightmare - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/trucks-stalls-when-turning-steering-wheel-nightmare.982273/
This is the first time I’m hearing of such a thing. Link to explain? Definitely worth a shot. It’s in the 90s here and while the truck started up just fine last night, it would not perform a cold start today after sitting out in the driveway all day.
It's been a while since I posted but the problem remains.
Got it back from the shop after they replaced all the intake stuff. No codes while they had it. Apart from the intake, they had to replace the charcoal canister because the one I rolled in with was full of fuel. Since getting it back, I...
Thank you both for the advice. The photos are VERY helpful. I'm able to think through this more with this guided information. Sometimes you just need a little nudge to make sure you're not going in the wrong direction with so many information sources available.
I believe one of the wiring kits...
I have read through the forums and gotten pieces of what I need, but nothing that ties it together for my specific situation.
When I get my LC100 back from the shop (long story involving a small fire in the intake), I have a Redarc Smart Start ready to install. I want to add a second battery to...
Well, spoke too soon.
When engine is over 200F, I get major problems starting up and the fuel smell. So now I guess it’s time to look at the vacuum system. 441 and 446 thrown again.
Died when pulling in a driveway. Tried to restart, goosed the throttle, and BAM! Something under the hood popped...
You rock, sir.
I haven't checked the vacuum assembly yet, but did get a new (used) charcoal canister and replaced that yesterday. Test driving a bit indicates it has helped because situations in which I would stall out have gone smoothly. No codes thrown yet with new canister. If I run into...
Would this issue be similar to a random stalling when putting in reverse, starting up, or coming out of idle when the engine is hot? This is happening to me and I have already replaced the fuel filter and airflow sensor. Correlated with a hot engine, I’m thinking it has something to do with vapors.
Update!
I replaced the fuel filter and MAF. Ran BG44k through my tank as well. Does better on cold starts and seems to run smoother, but the problem continues with a hot engine. I have new codes as well: P0441 and P0446. This is an evap system issue, looks like?
I can definitely pull those, I did that when I replaced the valve covers on my Land Rover. I wonder if I have a fuel filter or pump issue. This seems to only happen at higher temperatures. Reminiscent of my 1996 Discovery, which ultimately resulted in me getting a new fuel pump.
If it helps, I...
