My 12/78 Cal Spec has the oil pressure sender on the banjo bolt as well.

I received one of the black-coated hoses this weekend. I can vouch for the quality. It's a solid product, and with the hose being so close to exhaust - the extra protection sounds good to me.

Get the kit and do it yourself, it's not too bad. Was one of the first things I did when I first got my Cruiser. Be methodical about where parts came from - lay things out if you need to. Carb cleaner spray and a gallon can of carb dip is about all you need. Be careful with springs and balls...

What is the process? Does it make the original material harden up so it can be chipped off? I'd like to clean mine up too - over time it has just clumped up in places from normal wear.

I've got two on my 12/78 as well. I agree with Dizzy - one for the computer and emissions stuff. Both mine appear to be almost identical. Maybe only slight differences as if one was replaced some time ago. Maybe the one you have with the nipple is badly corroded or broken?

Mine's a12/78 Cali spec and has them attached to the rollbar.

Mine has Velcro and that's how the soft top attaches. No snaps or mechanical fasteners of any kind. But that Velcro is still attached to the upper, hinged, part of the trailer - not the tub. I can open up the tub with the soft top on and there is no latch or catch of any kind. Are you saying...
