    EGR Cleaning

Thanks for the post. It turns out a local shop turned up a matching part from a box of FJ60 parts they had from the same era. I am OK now. Thanks again!

    EGR Cleaning

I've recently made a custom plate out of a bad EGR valve to help clean out the EGR system using chemical cleaners on my FZJ80. Having done this I was thinking of doing a similar clean out of the EGR system on my 1980 FJ40 which still has to pass the smog test in my state. I wonder if anyone...

    Silicon Cooling Hoses kit?

Thanks for all the suggestions. The family enjoys the 80 so I will turn over a few more stones while I am in there to keep it running reliably.

    Silicon Cooling Hoses kit?

Thanks for all the advice and P/Ns as well. I will look into sourcing the hoses on Monday. Is replacing water pump/thermostat or anything else a consideration while the coolant is drained and the hoses are being re-done.

    Silicon Cooling Hoses kit?

The 80's rad starting leaking badly today. I can't ignore it anymore especially with a long road trip planned for the end of the summer. I see that the OE rad is still available so I will probably put one on order Monday. I wonder about all the hoses? Is there a good silicon cooling hose kit...

    Just got the P0401

Thanks for the info. I live in California for the delete option is not available to me. I'll give it a try doing some cleaning to see if that makes a difference. I'll also check all the vacuum hoses to make sure there isn't a leak there either.

    Just got the P0401

I'm just about to go on long trip for the holidays and my 1996 just threw a P0401 code for the first time. Is this the kind of code I can ignore for a few thousand miles or will it burn up something under the hood and leave me stranded?

Dead TVSS Alarm in 1995 LC

Agreed, pin numbers don't seem quite right to me either but, maybe if the components are bad, not sure. I might first try first replacing the dried out components in the ECU, that can't cost too much. Then, I'll go from there based on if it shows signs of life or not. I really want the alarm...

Dead TVSS Alarm in 1995 LC

Last night I disconnected the main harness at the alarm ECU. With the ignition on, only pins 11 & 12 had 12v and with the ignition off, only pins 11, 12, 24 and 25 had 12v -- everything else had no power or was grounded. This makes me think the ECU itself is getting power and ground from the...

Dead TVSS Alarm in 1995 LC

Wow, lots of good info and advice. I should mention that my 95 was a mall cruiser at best and spent a lot of years in storage since I have had it. I paid very little for it back in 2009 when no one wanted SUVs because of the high gas prices back then. It is completely stock so I assumed all...

Dead TVSS Alarm in 1995 LC

Recently I've been parking in the downtown area and was thinking to get an alarm installed. My 95 has the Toyota Security light on the dash and from the posts on the Board, I was able to locate the alarm control module under the drivers seat. It looks to be the Toyota TVSS model (predecessor...

    Replacement Corner Reflector

I was going to replace my cracked rear corner reflector when I see that the bolts/nuts seem to be different between the original reflector and the replacement. Did I get the right part for a 1980?

    New Leather Seat Covers

I will check into LC Heaven. I wasn't aware there was a vendor offering quality replacements.

    New Leather Seat Covers

The condition of the 20+ year old drivers seat in my 1995 has gotten pretty bad recently and I was thinking to do something about it. It's really the seat bottom that is badly worn while the seat back looks like it could go from another 5 years or more. I noticed some new leather bottom seat...

A/C blows cold...most of the time

The shop installed the new fan clutch along with the compressor about two weeks ago. I could check it but I still don't think that's my problem. I hope to have time to dig into it in a week or two. A good wiring diagram of the A/C components would help a lot.
