Show us your FJ40 then and now

Before: after: I should probably upload some newer photos with new springs and mirrors and tail lights and stuff.

show us your kayak/canoe mounts or methods

If you look closely I have a “low profile” rack attached to my gutters using the “bottom half” of Yakima 1A gutter mounts with the knobs shaved off. The Yakima crossbars are attached to the rack using the top half of the IA bar mounts only when needed. The bars stick out further than the low...

Machining a Groove out of a Companion Flange

Valley Hybrids or Cruiser outfitters could probably advise you/provide you with the right part. Obviously It depends on course verses fine spline and the correct bolt pattern. For example, personally if I re- gear my stock 71 course spline diffs I will be looking for a fine spline but with the...

Machining a Groove out of a Companion Flange

Even I am not that cheap. I would replace it but I would use a speedi seal rather than machine it if the flange wasn’t available.

TLCA TLCA Rubithon 35 Huft’s Thursday Breakfast Run 2023

If you are registered then show up at the right place at the right time. I’m pretty sure Brian Flynn is leading the run.

    Guilty!

    Body to frame clearance

Thanks for the photos. Somethings collapsed a bit. My truck has been through the con and other trails and some high speed desert driving, all while heavily loaded. The bushings look a bit bulged. I'll take a closer look at the brackets on the frame and the body. My slider is definitely bent...

    Body to frame clearance

I was halfway through the Rubicon trail and noticed that the bottom of my passenger rear door is rubbing against the top of my slider when I open it. I assumed the slider was bent up but I got home and took a look in the rear fender well and see the inner fender/body touching the frame. I have...

Equivalent of McGeorge Toyota for the West coast / PNW?

I discovered today much to my dismay that every dealer nationwide with the Toyota parts web site that features "freeship" is unable to lookup part numbers from older than 91 toyotas. Previously, I was able to find parts through their portal. I can't buy parts for my 40 anymore. The rest of the...

    What's the difference between Part number: 84222-12010 & 84210-52050

I used the cheap Beck Arnley switch and a year later its "spinning" (when screwed in, connector still turns). The switch is intermittent. If I wiggle/rotate the connector it will function properly. I may have to bite the bullet and get the correct switch from a dealer and see if it hold up better.

    TLCA Rubithon 2023

Maybe the trail will wet sand some of the rust off my sliders.

I live on the coast it’s more like rust to dust.

    TLCA Rubithon 2023

I am, still depending on snow melt. If it is still a no go I will do a lower elevation trail like slick rock and sour grass or even a warm trip to the Mojave (I have good AC).
