A 1994 HDJ 80, which starts at 24 V. Here are the battery system elements:
LHS battery. No extras connected here. Positive terminal made of 20 x 5 mm copper bar. Dim relay substitution system shown in front.
RHS battery. Terminals made of 20 x 5 mm copper bar. Positive, front to back: winch...
Hi, it is perfectly possible. I swapped the original engine of my BJ 73 by an 1KZ-TE from a wrecked series 9. I also wanted a fully mechanical iron, therefore left the electronic injection pump behind and installed a mechanical one from an LJ 70 with 2L-T engine. This thing worked, but the poor...
Hi,
I own an 80 an 73. Therefore this is not my primary forum. However, I am trying to help a friend with a 95 of December 1999, with an 1KZ-TE engine. Concretely, he has an issue with the airbag light, and I know from my 80 that it is possible to check error codes using a jumper wire between...
Mine is an HDJ 80 of 1994, and I am extremely interested in this thread because my symptoms are exactly the same. I have changed the radiator, its cap and its input and output hoses for new OEM units.
Here are some (unproductive, so far) thoughts that may be of help:
- Headgasket issue is...
Please help me to select the appropriate spare birfield for my 1994 HDJ 80. I am a bit confused because there appear 4 references for my VIN. Apparently, the date interval controls the length, and there is an additional attribute W(*66) which I do not understand:
Mi car is of 04/1994, and I...
I did not believe such things would still exist until today. Looks like a real unicorn. Greetings, and good luck with the build (welcome to the 1HD-T club).
Thanks indirectly for the information. This brings about a question that I recurrently ask myself: how to use jumper cables in case one or both batteries are depleted. This is critical with an ATM that cannot be pushed to start. My provisional response is to carry a battery analyzer to detect...
The hole itself measures 30 x 40 mm if I remember well. I did cut a corresponding piece of stainless steel of 2 mm thickness. Then used four 5 mm bolts along with RTV sealant. Very easy.
This is the hole from the inside. The arrow marks forward.
And this is from outside, below:
A DIY alternative is to use copper bars with enough cross-section (3 x 30 mm in my case), along with common reinforced terminals. Just drill and tap as appropriate for the ring cable terminals you want to fasten. I used M6 and M8 bolts. The red tint is sprayed Liqui Moli 3141.
Hi. I have been given a used engine oil level sensor to replace that in my 1HD-T engine (1994 HDJ 80), which is becoming playful. I would like to test it, but have not found a method so far. This is the sensor (part 89491-36080):
It has a connector with two poles, and the black thing on the...
Hi,
My other car is a BJ 73 with manual transmission, and I normally start in 3rd gear low when driving in compromised conditions like sand, for example. Unfortunately, my 1994 HDJ 80 with automatic transmission (A442F), does not have an equivalent, and when accelerating from 1st low she looks...
At least in my 1994 HDJ 80, the horn contact in the steering wheel is through a brass track which rubs against a mating brass pin. The pin becomes wasted and shorter over time, and in the process it starts making noises. Checking this is easy, just remove the steering wheel. I attach some photos:
Yep! Here is the wire diagram. It is made on page 'W/G 8, ‘Headlight (LHD in Europe w/o Daytime Running Light)', of the ‘Repair Manual Supplement For Chassis & Body, Land Cruiser Hardtop/Canvas Top/StationWagon’ (RM-315E, August 1992).
The shaded rectangle corresponds to the parts substituted...
