Introduction Thread...Who are you, and what do you drive?

Hey, I'd love to use your press if the offer's still good! I was stranded in the Philly area when I made my post, and life got in the way after I got back up here. I should have time to do it next week.

Frame Rail and Spring Tower Rust

My drivetrain and axles are good AFAIK. Same price for just the frame?

Frame Rail and Spring Tower Rust

Looks like it to me  Assuming a repair is possible, around how much can I expect to get it welded?

Frame Rail and Spring Tower Rust

I'm getting a few frame leads on Facebook, including one for $1000. How much will the labor run me?

Frame Rail and Spring Tower Rust

No rust there  The frame rails actually look pretty clean except for the two holes I posted and the missing crossmember. Stupid question but where is the crossmember supposed to be located?

They didn't say. Can I tell without getting it on a lift?

Frame Rail and Spring Tower Rust

I got a second opinion on my suspension issue today, and found out I had more of a rust problem than I thought! The frame rails have a couple of rust holes, and the left rear coil spring tower is rusted through. I knew about the frame rail holes (and see the one under my bumper in Picture #4...

Even the spring tower? This is my first time dealing with this, but I've been chatting about this with ChatGPT Land Cruiser Part Checker, which told me that would be more involved than the frame rails, and all together likely to cost over $10K. How much do you suppose it will run me?

    Greetings from Pennsylvania!

That's what I thought too, until I got it back from the shop (second opinion for suspension/steering issue) today. It has rust holes in the frame rail, and the left rear spring coil tower is rusted through. I knew it had some surface rust mostly around the wheel wells and a couple holes that I...

Introduction Thread...Who are you, and what do you drive?

I'll just get a Harbor Freight press when they get here and do them myself. I'm currently looking for some good used monotube shocks. I want to get this all done before class starts in a couple weeks, so I can't hold out too long. Does it matter if I use different front and rear shocks, if I...

Wanted  PA: Front and rear IMS Monotube shock absorbers for 80 Series

Looking for a good (OME, Dobinsons, or similar), used set of IMS monotube shocks with low mileage for both the front and rear of my stock height FZJ80. Must offer shipping if not near West Chester, PA.

Introduction Thread...Who are you, and what do you drive?

Hi all, my name is Arthur. I'm in-between the Philly area and Wilkes-Barre where I go to college. I haven't joined yet, but plan to go on more adventures in my new-to-me 1997 FZJ80 after I graduate. I went on a few already, but apparently didn't know about the bushings in these trucks, which...

    Greetings from Pennsylvania!

Hi all, my name is Arthur. I bought this gorgeous 1997 FZJ80 back in February. I'm new to the 80-series world, but I did drop out of mechanic school years ago and owned a few project cars. At 303K (now 308K) it's rough, but it's also triple-locked with a good engine, and minimal rust for a NY...
