Poll: How much work do you do on your own vs a shop?

I've started to learn to wrench/DIY beyond basics on my 100 series. It makes it easier to stomach repair costs when buying new OEM parts and let's me build up my tool set. It's quite satisfying completing a job myself, with the benefit of knowing it was completed without taking shortcuts/cheap...

What to replace and what to leave alone when doing front rotors/pads?

BTW does anyone have experience with the shim kit from cruiserteq? https://cruiserteq.com/caliper-hardware-kit-fits-1-1998-2007-100-470-front-applications-br09807k/ Ordered the same OEM parts from my toyota dealer but it's twice the price

What to replace and what to leave alone when doing front rotors/pads?

On the third weekend of doing this job since I order tools or parts as I feel like after inspecting (first time working on my lc brakes) and it's my weekend vehicle so I can afford going slow, and sometimes I just get stuck lol Important for getting races out (in case you want to put in new...

Noob attempt to replace front rotors pads and bearings

Ok I’ve got another noob question on this job I’m struggling with getting the new inner race back in the hub. I’ve tried using the older race with a slit cut through it, as well as a driver kit. It just doesn’t get past the point where it’s flush. I got the outer race in pretty easily but this...

working on this job in my garage following a video, I ended up scratching the inside of my hub trying to take the bearing races out. Are these scratches going to cause me trouble?

DIY: Replacing heater hose pipe T's *important*

Noticed a puddle of coolant under my cruiser, it looked like I had enough coolant so I drove to the auto zone 10 minutes away to get a pressure testing kit to find where the leak was coming from. On my way back I noticed I started to overheat and pulled over right away. I got stranded but...

    SOLD TX - '06 LX470 (Cars&Bids)

Did you ever think the 100 series would get more than your 200? I was planning to bid but it got too high for me, maybe I need to focus more on 200 series.

06 Cruiser in Portland, is this a reasonable price?

That place has a very similar listing every time, shiny and waxed, with a cheap basket on top and blacked out wheels. And the listings stay up for months because of the price.

What has everyone been paying for 100 series lately?

where did you end up finding that? that’s basically everything I’ve been looking for in a 100 series since January- 06+, around 150k miles, and priced around mid to upper teens.

Nice 2005 LX470 on bring-a-trailer but I bet it will bring far more than ...

It’s always the same guy that seems to make a killing reselling average, rusty examples that look slightly refurbished. Not sure if those guys bidding realize they can get the same thing from most dealerships.
