Went through and replaced all 5 rear control arms with OEM from IMPEX. Hit a snag with the lateral control arm. I can't seem to realign it enough to get the bolt through. I've tried jacking one side of frame, other side of frame, wheels on, wheels off, frame on stands and jacking...
I installed the Ironman 4x4 one and it didn't involve the LCAs at all. Only needed a jack to support the diff and then to get it back into place. 99% sure I didn't jack up the entire cruiser, but maybe I did out of habit
I'm installing a diff drop and some new suspension stuff in a couple of weeks, so I'll retorque them at that time. When I initially did it I think I somewhat tightened in air then torqued on ground. I tried to follow the forum guides as much as possible. Worth a try!
Maybe the diff drop and...
I have a bad suspension squeak that I'm 99% sure if coming from the FR shock. I took it to a local mechanic and he said that's definitely what it is. I relayed to him the conventional wisdom of the forum that these "shocks" are lifetime parts, but he didn't buy it and is convinced the squeak is...
I live in Houston and have to replace them pretty much every year. They certainly don't last as long as the OEM.
While the motors are cheap, I'm beginning to worry about the cumulative wear to the door parts from having to replace these so often. Makes me wonder if it's cheaper in the long run...
So. I replaced the hub, put in new bearings, and replaced the caliper too (it was seizing). Still getting the gurgle/popping noise. At this point everything has been replaced. I also checked every bolt/bushing/ball joint and everything is good. I'm at a loss. Everything in there is OEM except...
First things first, I DO NOT recommend the latches I used. I had them lying around so I used what I had.
The problem with them is that they are extremely hard to fine tune. In order to get the lid to close firmly, I had to go back and forth and back and forth slowly grinding away at a stopper...
Still here, and still heavy steering. I've replaced literally every steering component except the columns (although I've inspected the U-joints and lubed them) and still heavy steering. I run 285s as well. I've given up accepted that she's a tank, especially with those wheels. I can't say why my...
I tried rebuilding one two days ago and the kit was pretty disappointing. Couldn’t get the dust boot rings to seat. That being said it was a febest kit from partsouq, not OEM. I went ahead and ordered a reman from rockauto for like $45 to have on standby. Not sure how long mine will last without...
Upgraded my battery terminals last year because my negative kept coming loose. Only problem was that I needed a 90 degree bracket to connect generic marine battery terminals. Made a simple one at the time with scrap carbon steel to get the car back on the road. Finally had time to come back and...
No progress. Other things came up so I let it go. When I get time I'll try to get techstream to work another way but for now it's not being used.
From what I've seen people do run them in colder climates. I grew up with GCC models so I love them, but if I didn't live in a place with them I...
