Getting ready to put the 1FZFE back together and the oil pump drive gear key and keyway have lot of slop in their mating...has anyone dealt with this when overhauling the beast....
Come to find out .....after opening up the valve cover....chain is intact....maybe jumped a couple teeth on bottom sprocket.....lot of slack in chain....seems to be a non interference engine.....
Then there is the option of a total engine swap with a remanufactured long block that I found at Spartan motors in Washington state.....being that this one has 260 thousand on it....
I have a 94 FJ80 with 260k on it and just broke a timing chain...trying to decide whether to try to snatch the old chain out and replace it....or remove head and do a valve job while I am at it...anyone out there that can give me some advice...been awhile since I have done any major motor...
