One day at my worksite after coming back from break; a random guy from a different crew approaches me asking "Is that a 6 cylinder in your Toyota?" "A straight six, swapped in." I said. "Which one?" He smiles. "A 1J." I replied. "I'm swapping in a 2j into one right now!" He answered...

About 18-20 mpg mixed city/highway. I forgot about the states not being metric!

Yes, thank you. A verbal update: truck now has 10,000km's on it. Still works haha. I've logged a few more tanks on fuel consumption, with some city driving, and it seems to stay in the range of 11, and 13L/100kms. Room for improvement but a great platform to start with if you ask me. Stay...

Toast, I tried this, but to no avail. I just reset it to stay on zero to bug me less. Thanks anyways! I'm sure I need a tach signal adapter. Ordered my TPS finally! On the way up from the states. Can't wait to slap it on.

Thank you. Which series cruiser do you have? About the fuel consumption - not a bad question at all. It's been pretty good. Certainly better than a 3VZ or a 22R. It drinks about 11L/100kms on the highway. I don't really have an answer for the city, I am one of those people lucky enough to not...

Hahaha I knew you were joking! About the tach- this truck was a V6 model to begin with, many were made in North America. I had figured that the tach would work considering both are sixes. I'm gonna try the tips that Toast brought up. We'll see what happens.

Hahaha money bacon. Although, in Canada, we still call bacon bacon: bacon. Canadian bacon is called Canadian bacon. It's good stuff, but bacon bacon is better lol.

Cool thank you, I will try that when I get home in a few days. I have been working shift work in Alberta, 3 weeks on. Which is why my girl has been driving it... And which is why progress has slowed. Gotta bring home the bacon, as my toddler nephew would say! Should have a few good updates...

Thanks. Nice truck! I'm sure the V8 is just as much fun as this 6. Pilot bearing is absent. Not the wisest thing, likely. However, it's absent because I was ready to move forward with the build and was tired of trying to figure out something that (I had heard) wasn't entirely necessary...

Thanks SC! Over 2400km's now. Can't keep me out of it! I'll post up some more info this weekend.

Cool Cooler. A 3rd 4runner arrives on scene. Headgaskets are :skull: The intercooler is hard mounted to the firewall, and then two small metal brackets were made up to support the weight of the front. During the install we realized that the factory 'hot pipe' would work a lot better if it...

UPDATE! I have put 1800 kms on the truck now. Lots of fun. In that time, I encountered a couple more hiccups as expected. An oil leak from the oil filter pedestal. A harsh fuel cut. A charging issue. (resolved) Here's a few old pics of the exhaust work. Back to the FAB shop. :rainbow...
