Does it work if you rev. the engine? There should be a little pot for idle threshold adjustment so the compressor will only come on after the certain rpm is reached.

See if you can raise the porportioning valve up so there's more pressure to the rear brake. It'll help you stop better with that much weight in the back.

I'm having the same problem but I chased it down to loose rear t-case output flange. You might want to take the d-shaft out and put the truck in 4wd and in gear..then hammer out the crush collar nut...see if you can toque the nut down more to 90 ft/lbs. If yes, then get an new nut from the...
