    Front body mount CHOP!

Structually, I dont know, but once plated it should be plenty strong enough to hold the 'puck'. Welding did tweak the 1st side a bit....I used too thin of a tape, and it caught fire for a moment or two..On the 2nd side, I used a super-thick rubber tape, and that worked great. No discoloring...

    Front body mount CHOP!

Many people increasing to 285's without a lift are experiencing rubbing issues on the front body mount. So tonight I decided to chop it away... Here are the pics.... Oh yeah, measure TWICE and cut ONCE...unless your me. I started with a small cut, then realized, Im better off cutting...

Here is a pic of a custom mount for a highlift....

    Bentup.com SQUARE sliders!

Well, someone asked AJ if he could do a version of square sliders, so I was his guinea pig for measurements.... Here are some pics, I think the square sliders look substantially better then the round ones. The square seems to match the 'boxy' overall look of the FJ better, IMO. They also...

    Do aftermarket bumpers affect airbags?

It COULD affect insurance, since the 'crumple zone' sheetmetal has been replaced....Theoretically, I would THINK that with a SOLID bumper, the force would be more directly applied to the frame (since the sheetmetal bumper is gone)...hence your insurance may claim that the bumper caused the...

    Bentup.com REAR bumper pics!

I met up with some FJ folks this weekend at Frank Raines; afterwards, I headed up to Bentup to (hopefully) begin the fabrication of a front skid plate.... (yes, we got a good start, but Im not posting ANYTHING till its all done....lol) When I got there, the Yellow FJ was in the shop getting...

    Bentup.com REAR bumper pics!

The owner of the rig lives in Elk Grove, from what I hear, thats where his install was done....but I have not talked to him....did you talk to that location? I can TELL you that he IS running 295's with a revtek spacer lift. Although I must add, this person does not seem like the...

    Bentup.com REAR bumper pics!

Not 100% sure...but Bentup's shop is on the north side of I50 (Sunrise exit) in Rancho Cordova, CA....there is a Les Schwab on the south side of the freeway..(like within a half-mile of bentup's shop).....I assume that one did it, but since its a large chain, there could be more then one in the...

    Bentup.com REAR bumper pics!

Those HOLES are what attaches the bumper to the frame...Those are the stock holes for the tow hitch option. There are 4 bolts facing back, and two more on the bottom side of the rear frame. The front of the frame has 'horns' which the bumper mounts to. Totally different mounting methods....

    Bentup.com REAR bumper pics!

Don't know anything about the offsets of the wheels. He had Les Schwab install the lift and the wheels and tires. He said to me that Les Schwab has the FJ in their 'data sheet' and thats what they purchased them off of. They did not appear to stick 'out' any further then stock wheels, when...

    Bentup.com REAR bumper pics!

Backup sensors will be on there....thats no problem at all. As far as the STOCK hitch, Im not sure. This owner does not have one...but I do. I think the lower lip would need to be notched for the stock hitch to work, but again, not sure. (there is a small piece of metal that helps to give...

    Do aftermarket bumpers affect airbags?

Note this thread was split off Angry Andy's original Bentup.com bumper thread. It clearly became a seperate topic so the thread was split. Angry Andy did not start this thread

    Bentup.com REAR bumper pics!

Well, its almost 100% done. Looks sweet as hell. Its welded up, and it needs lotsa grinding to it still. Then it needs lights recessed into it (Ill post a pic later) and backup sensors mounted. AJ cut the tupperware rear bumper in order to save the upper section. It still snaps into the...
