Where does my tow bar attach?

I bought an unused tow bar along with some other bits from a breakers but I'm not sure where the tow bar attaches. It appears to attach to the circled location in the photo but I'm not sure that bit looks strong enough, any thoughts?

Gearbox pulled - what else should I do?

I'd have to ship a new box from the the US, Australia or Japan to the UK so I imagine the cost of a new one will be high. If anyone's got one lying around though... I guess there might be something in France or Germany. SteveH, thanks for the suggestion, will look into that.

Gearbox pulled - what else should I do?

After some alarming noises from the gearbox, my HJ61 has been sent to a local gearbox specialist. He removed the gearbox (5 speed) and opened it up, apparently it needs a new: Input shaft lay gear another gear (on the main shaft just into the transfer case) "bearings and gaskets" It also...

    Tailgate not closing tight

It is also possible to alter the position of the rubber "bump stops" that the tailgate rests on by slackening off the bolts that hold them in position. Repositioning these to press firmly against the tailgate ought to keep it in place but you will have to close it firmly.

Steering damper bushes and tapered bolts - interchangeable?

Thanks Kurt, that's what I needed to know, even if it is not the answer I hoped for. It means I'll have to speak nicely to my American friends so I can order "142995" and then get it sent on to me in the UK. Hopefully without getting clobbered for tax and the attendant delays.

HJ60 : what is this component please?

It looks like a regulator/rectifier but I only say that because it has a heat sink attached.

Steering damper bushes and tapered bolts - interchangeable?

Does anyone know if the rubber bushes and the tapered bolts that are used to fit the steering damper are interchangeable between Old Man Emu stuff and original Toyota parts? It would save me having to order something from America or Australia if they are.

    OME steering damper bushes?

Hooray Ok, answered my own question. Apparently the fitting kit comes with the bushes, I'll have to wait and see to be sure because it's being air freighted from the US.

    OME steering damper bushes?

My Old Man Emu steering damper bushes and tapered bolts are no good but the damper itself seems fine. Is it possible to get hold of just the bushes and bolts? I notice that there is a fitting kit with the bolts in but no sign of the bushes. I'm UK based so that's going to make it trickier...

    Stiff Steering Problem

Definitely the water getting on the belt, the belt slips and the power steering pump doesn't give any assistance. I wouldn't bother trying to tighten the belt, you might end up with it too tight which might then damage the bearings. Just watch out for deep water.

    Stripping a starter motor

I started to have problems with the starter and have jumped through a few hoops to get it better so I thought I'd share with 'Mud as I couldn't find anything on the search function. Problem: Starter motor carries on turning after the car has started, in fact, it even carries on turning while...

    Uneven battery charge on 24V

Hmm, the voltages were swapped over from what I remembered but using the jump lead to connect the batteries evened the voltages of the batteries out so I think we have the culprit, thank you very much daboheme.
