The stock tank is 16 gallons. The muffler is just a bit behind the drivers seat location (yeah hot) and the exhaust exits just in front of the rear wheel. The tank hangs off the bed of the truck. It does sit above the driveshaft so I'm not too worried about bottoming out. I'm not rock climbing...
yeah it is a bit low but that is about all the tank would allow. I did experience a really slow fill at Costco but went to Texaco and had no problem. I haven't decided about a skid plate at this point.
Just picked up the FJ with the auxiliary fuel tank installed. Got the tank from Cruiser Brothers (Ward Harris) and they were great. The tank has added an additional 26 gallons of capacity which is awesome particularly when I'm out in the middle of nowhere. I had a 4x4 shop do the installation...
Ward, I just sent an email with a question on the tank placement for a 1978 FJ45. I've got an inverter mounted under the driver's seat and need to know the placement of this tank.
Okay sent the money thru Paypal. will call tomorrow to follow up on the shipping address. If you have some hinges for it or point me to a source that would be appreciated. Thanks,
Butch
The truck ran like a top all the way home. I enjoyed the visit and thanks for showing me your 45. I looked forward to getting involved with LSLC and will see you soon. Once again thanks for working on the truck. The clutch feels great.
Tom
I'm new to the area and would love to meet up and see some other Cruisers. Currently I'm due to pickup my 45 from Butch up in Bonham so it depends on whether the truck is finished (it should be) & whether my son will be able to drive me up there to get it. If all that happens I'll try to be there.
Thanks for all the replies. I've been out of pocket for a while working on a house in San Antonio. I need a 4 speed. Not sure about a transfer case. I guess as long as I'm doing to might as well do it all.
Sorry for being like a rash over different spots on 'MUD chasing you down. I hope you are getting better. In case you see this post before the others I need to replace the transmission in my 1978 FJ45. Any suggestions you might have would be appreciated.
