    Idle adjustment screw.

I bought my 80 FJ in june, ran ok at the time, got it home and began making checks and adjustments immediately, still have not finished. Started by setting the carb, next the valves, most recently the timing, then back to the carb because the timing changed things on me a bit. running a lot...

thanx mike, I plan on tackling it this weekend. I have access to mitchel on demand at work so i will down load any torque specs needed.

If someone gave you a $1000 and told you to spend it on your FJ, what would U do/buy

welder and plasma cutter. Maybe some body panels to replace the rusted panels on my 40. Unless i had the first two, then i would not need the third :) I have power steering on mine, i gotta say it's nice.

Rear Differential flange can't sperate to remove pinion seal.

I have a front pinion seal waiting to go in...just need to know what i'm dealing with before i dive in. if anyone has a picture or two, might help. From what i gather, seems like i have to remove the dust shield to expose the seal, then pull/replace seal. Is there more to this? thanx

interesting...i'll have to research this further. I too seem to have developed a pinion oil seal leak. Started as wetness and quickly progressed to a nice steady leak. Will have to get under there and take a closer look. Let us know how it all holds up.

I too was a mechanic in the AF and remember going out to start and old engine during the winter and taking a can...

    No more death wobble!

I could not find anyone in Anchorage that sold steel shims, everyone had aluminum. I found a set on Ebay from 4x4machineshop, shipped to alaska (not everyone does). There's others out there selling steel shims, should not be a problem locating if you live in the lower 48.
