Yeah this one was pretty frustrating as it presented as a failed fuel pump. Basically killed the original pump, the first replacement, and now the second is likely bad so I’m just going to throw a new one in again for peace of mind after running the truck too long with the bad FPR. Darn it...
As much as I’d like to mess around and fix it, I’m out of time. I have to get back to Austin for work and this is the safest bet for me at the moment. I’ve broken down too many times on this trip to chance it at the point. I’ll get it running again when it’s back in Austin.
Determined that was the issue, can’t get the part in time so I’m just shipping the truck back home and will deal with it later. Bummer! Thanks for the response and great guess!
My 1990 FJ62 wouldn’t start the other day. Wasn’t getting fuel. Fuel pump turned on but no fuel delivery. I replaced the pump yesterday and it ran fine for about 30 minutes. Now is stumbling and almost dying when I give it gas and let off. I’ve checked vacuum lines/air intake and all seem...
Yeah, I’m going to say I wasn’t excited about the job but it wasn’t as bad as I expected. So much crap has to come off the front but it gave me the opportunity to cut the fan shroud in half and replace the lower hose I didn’t even know existed that looked like it was ready to s*** the bed.
ended up having some mechanical issues kill some of my free time up here so instead of exploring I got to spend time waiting on parts and replacing my thermostat and water pump. Also put some new bilsteins on. Nice having a truck that doesn’t overheat at idle anymore though! I’ve got one more...
Made it to the coast, did a little exploring around Boothbay Maine today. Haven’t had much time for side trips yet but a few are on the books. Had some beer and oysters with the boy! He didn’t like the beer but enjoyed the oysters!
Maybe I’ll wait till I get home and have all my tools! Haha… also my transmission started whining quite a bit in the last couple days. No change in shifting, just noise for the moment. Waiting for it to take a s*** though… might be H55 swapping here in Maine with no access to a lift or tools...
I just ordered all new bolts to tackle this, might hit it with penetrating oil for a few days before trying to remove the bolts. Seems like this happens to everyone doing this project.
Got my armrests in the mail, super excited to have these for the trip home. Also, finally got on some fish for the trip, got three smallies this morning in about 10 minutes!
Soon enough, he’s still in a booster seat, only 8 y/o, likely next year it will be fine for him to ride up front. Honestly, there’s more room for him to have all his books and crap to keep him busy for the drive!
