Did some horse trading and ended up with a vintage TLC license plate frame. Repainted the faded lettering and decided it would be perfect on Ol’ Dusty.
Dusty and I dropped by to visit local farmer, Mr. Bobby Cox, Dusty’s original owner. Mr. Cox was happy to see his old FJ40 back on the road, looking and driving nice. He did correct me for calling it a truck. “A truck has a bed. It’s not a...
Good to know, I’ve always heard that the 2F is on the slower slide. I don’t have a functioning temperature gauge and it didn’t come with a tachometer so I haven’t felt comfortable, pushing it. According to this thread, it sounds like the 2F will...
Good to know, the transmission was low, but not that low. I would assume it would have been lower had it been migrating? I’ll have to look into one of those kits. Thanks!
The transfercase oil could be migrating into the transmission. When you’re able to get the transmission fill plug loose, if it is overfilled, that’s where it went. For a quick work around you could install a bypass hose between both fill ports as...
Probably not. I don't have that problem. Most off the others have the opposite problem. Your the 4th out of 550 that has that problem. Don't know the solution.
Finally got to a good place with this. What started as a stiff shifting problem in cold weather, had morphed into too much oil in the tranny, low oil in the transfer case, and I can't get the darn fill plugs off. Two months later, and I've...
Thanks for the comments. With the trump earrings and the banjo fittings beimg
Made in Germany and shipped from the vendor headquarters in England I expect
to see an increase in prices on the next
Batch I order. The vendor has been good at...
+1!
My trans was overfilling and t-case was low after driving because of the seal fail between the two. Quality product I've had for years with no leaks or trouble.
I really appreciate the craft of some of the cruiserheads on mud!
Shipmag creates these well built bypass hoses for trans-tc ... think they work more to relieve pressure in a hot transfer case.
Beautiful.
Even though i drained and topped off...
+1. I believe they're also a form of cheap insurance for seal leaks causing fluid to push from one to the other, although I don't recall which direction.
I added one to mine for peace of mind, and it is a nicely made item.
I read all i could find and my take away was just that, some report repeated seal failures.
Some have luck extending the TC breather up high into the engine bay if they remove one way check valve.
Mine was certainly moving oil FROM TC to trans...
I had to use paypal the other day - I quit them a long time ago because they screw me and the other guy - however it went threw this time and parts Tranny/tranfer by pass hose from @shipmag should be here tomorrow. I did Zelle the other day...
Gear oil is ap4, synchros were brand new 9 years ago now I think..... It get very low mileage per year. No inspection, and the fork blocks the view in the fork slot.
HOWEVER, some 4-5 small bubbles in the line. So, Re bled 4oz worth and will...
Maybe your synchro's are shot from the wrong gear oil, or not acting correctly because you have the wrong gear oil now.
I just ordered this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071YBH8P1 5 quarts for my T/T and have a by pass hose coming from @shipmag
To compare, the 60 series 2F is set up like this. Terms are a little different but same function. The VCV is open when engine is up to temp and throttle is off idle. The vapors are sucked into the intake manifold thru ports Z and Y of the VCV...
I never connected it. Once I hooked up the EVAP to the charcoal canister, I “temporarily“ just ran the output line to a small filter that vents to the atmosphere. I then ordered the VSS and BVSV. But by the time the parts arrived, all fuel...
Some photos…
Here I’m holding back my ultra-cool plug-in trailer wiring harness (Coolerman) showing the charcoal canister output hose that goes to the hard line that crosses the firewall.
Now I know why I can’t find the BVSV on my bench...
