    1970 FJ40 Project for sale

All SOLD 9/3/10 Dear fellow mudders, I have finally faced the reality that I do not have time for this restoration. I bought a running 1970 FJ40 with the body off and disassembled. It needs to go to the right person, hopefully a mud member. Here is the sale scenario...

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

I removed, scrubbed, detailed and painted my alternator Hunter green and it turned out great, got the idea from destin.

Body off, best way for home garage?

I bought a 2 ton chain hoist from Northern Tool and Equipment (under a 100 bucks) and then built some big rolling skeleton frame/saw horses. I like the open frame style vs a flat decked surface because it provides better access for welding, grinding etc. Get decent wheels so it's easy to move...

    33x9.5 on the beach (NC)

I fish the Padre Island National Seashore here in Texas, it's 50 miles to the end of the island and 50 out, streches of deep sand that run 3 to 10 miles with deep ruts. No cell phone or wrecker service. Wider is better, air down as stated above, I run 33 x 10.5's at 15-18 psi. I'm still...

Hood with fenders and grill attached

Ratpuke, thanks for the info, Agent Orange is a good looking rig. I've read a lot of the build links doing mass amounts of research here but I have not seen a one piece hood build yet. Any build pics or links of your front hood assembly? Any one else have one piece hood build pics or links...

Hood with fenders and grill attached

I just saw your post, yes, please post the pics! How hard is it to lift and how do you keep it supported when it is up? Any rattling and such? Did you have to modify your hinges/hood at all? I have the entire vehicle disassembled right now so I can do any mods with ease and I think this is the...

Hood with fenders and grill attached

Hmm, good point cjgoode, I can hear the whole front clip shaking as I drive it to the car show, not. Can fenders flap at 65 mph? I bet the whole clip is a little heavy to lift and to support too. Well it looked kinda cool.... Probably best to keep it original. Mr. Toyota 1, Mud Duck 0.

Hood with fenders and grill attached

Cool, I found the pic, I had saved it on my laptop in one of my many imagery files. So no idea where it came from other than this website. So folks, is it metal or fiberglass? All of the comments are good so far, I'm not really sure what is mounted on 1970 fenders since mine were not...

alkarich, the more I search the more I think it is a fiberglass get-up. Cool Troopy shirts BTW.

Hood with fenders and grill attached

That looks like it provides easy access to the radiator and the front of the motor. I was thinking more along the lines of sitting on the tire or shop stool and working on the starter or the clutch/shifter linkage but I am open to all opinions/advice.
