Here is the final product with the parts removed on the left. The antenna, with parts swapped, ready to be installed in the middle, and my old broken FJ-62 antenna on the right.
This is the little plastic piece inside the FZJ-80 antenna mast guide that I had to remove. If you don’t remove this, your new antenna mast will not go all the way down. It will end up sticking up about the length of that little plastic piece (sarcasm intended). I still don’t know if that is...
Here is a picture of the two antennas side by side. The FZJ-80 on the left and my FJ-62 on the right, with the new antenna mast kit waiting to be installed.
Hi All,
Been a while since I have posted anything and wanted to share my power antenna fix. I had done a quick search and didn’t see this already, but I apologize if this is duplicate information.
As you probably know, the FJ62 power antenna assembly, P/N 86300-90A25, is NLA. You can still...
That's a great find! I called in hopes they had one for my FJ-40, but no luck unfortunately. They had a couple that were close though. Thanks for doing the reasearch and sharing with everyone!
Be interesting to know what the repair places use for new diaphragms or if they do some refurbishing of the old material themselves. With it needing to be flexible, you might try a couple test pieces with some diaphragm material to know the level of thickness to put on prior to committing to the...
I just noticed you mentioned A/C. I would NOT remove that if it's charged up and working. If I remember right, you can leave the condenser hoses connected and loosen it to adjust the position out of the way slightly, but not enough to help a bunch. Unless your doing more then Rad hoses...I would...
You will probably spend more time trying to do it with limited access then removing everything to install the hoses. One thing is to take note of the position of the hoses before removing the clamps on the old ones...assuming they are original and positioned correctly. I spent a little while...
I did mine that way once in a pinch and ran it like that for a while. I didn't like it that way and it would occasionally hit a belt. Mine wasn't a flex hose though. When I went back to original, it had a pretty good groove where it had been chafing. I recommend the stock setup.
This is great! I've looked into doing the same thing on my FJ40 dizzy advance. I've read a couple people dipping the diaphragm in plasti dip to reuse the old one with good results. I think one of the write ups was in the 40's forum. Haven't done it myself, but considering it unless a find a...
I did exactly the same as Racer65, minus the float. Call up cruiser outfitters and add the secondary diaphram.
Edit:so I guess I didn't do "exactly" the same thing....
I have just been reading about the different media blasting techniques. Pretty cool, they say the dustless uses recycled glass? Are you renting the equipment and doing the blasting or having someone do it for you? $800 for the whole truck doesn't sound bad, but I haven't asked for a quote on...
In the same boat with the distributor advance..I'm pretty sure you can just put vacuum on the dizzy and see if it holds, mine does not on one side. If you find a good replacement or parts availability, please post it, as it appears the advance/distributor is NLA.
