the knub could have some crud, rust on it or the fan clutch female could have some stuff in it
it is a fairly snug fit between the male on the bracket and the female of the clutch
Look like the nut you have is flanged , it might be thicker than the OEM one witch is not . If you use a thicker flanged nut with the washer it might be why its further out .
something is wrong, there should be threads coming past the end of the nut
the backside of the flange should be up close to the housing, can't see it in the pic
