It was just under $300 with the textured 3M Vinyl. They used knifeless cut tape to outline the shape, applied the adhesive vinyl, and then pulled up the tape to cut the shape. It's pretty slick. I've done countless vinyl applications before but...

I had a ton of backlash as well, esp at the rear diff. Did not measure but I'd say at least 10* of +/- rotation at the flange with no movement at the tires with the rear in the air. I went forward with my project anyway b/c I already had the DS...
same. had shop install Toyota ujoints I purchased, as I hacked it in my attempt. Was not satisfied in driveline feel after this install. New Toyota shafts solved the problem.
At 400k, heck, who can complain that the rig wants new shafts...
In my limited experience (sample size=1) when I had my DS rebuilt by a local, it did fix the chirping Toyota UJ that had 260K on it. Toyota UJ's were not used in the rebuild. Unfortunately, the "rebuilt" DS did not cure a drive line NVH issue...
Since 65K (now at 260k) I chased clunks (etc.) by driveshaft greasing and pumping (for years) while doing all (I mean ALL) the bushings and mounts as well as the Toyota CV and flanges. No joy.
I Replaced both driveshafts (F&R) with toyota...
