Did the 11 mile loop this morning. Pretty humid, temps in the mid to high 70s. I felt good, but not Superman good. Could have been the weather, or maybe riding on a less than optimal amount of sleep.
Don’t know how, but to my surprise...
The Bob Jackson build is a bit “niche”, to put it mildly. 650B conversion with 38mm wide slick tires. It’s plush but still corners confidently on rails. I’ll never go back to a high-psi ride. Maybe it’s because I’m over 40 haha. From stem to the...
Had the fatty on this short trip so busted it out and put some miles on the rocks. Was pretty fun until I pinched the tire with no tools the last day and pushed it back 4 miles. Time to look for an insert in the summer wheels. Made me really want...
I currently own six carbon frame bikes that I ride regularly, although one of the mtb's has a aluminum rear triangle. Only one was purchased new. My first carbon frame bike was in the late 90's, a Giant road bike. The second a Trek Madone and I...
After 15 years since this thread was brought to life, what is the current consensus on carbon frames for XC riding? Have they become more durable or are they still brittle liabilities? After buying back my old Surly 2 weeks ago, I have ridden...
You can use any hub (j-bend or straight pull) but the j-bend need hub prep that is detailed on their web site (I did this once and it is easy). The set I just built I used the hooked hubs from Berd which make the build super easy. If you do a...
Went for a pretty big one today at elevation with some vertical. South sourdough and caught a bit of brainard lake.
Winter is coming in fast up high. Lots of colors coming.
Cranked out 15.5 miles this morning. I added a few trails to the loop that I hadn’t ridden since 2019 or earlier. This made it the hilliest ride of the season with 956 feet of climbing. Somehow, also the fastest pace of the season.
My legs...
Didn’t feel like working so went for a ride. One day I may make it it the end of this trail. I need to dig into elevation gain and track it out but probably 30 miles and 3k-4K elevation gain. It would be brutal.
