I have had my IMS 2.5 for about 4-5 yrs now, done a few 2-3k miles trip on highway, a few trips to the Rubicon, etc. I really love the ride. Its soft, comfortable, and handle 4lo type crawling well. Would do it all over again.
Did some googling on the LM2, sounds interesting for sure.
95% of peak torque is available from 1250rpm.
Long (ish) stroke I6 is gonna produce more usable torque than a short stroke V6
Common rail injection changes things too. Super high...
The LM2 is also hooked to a smart auto with a bunch of gears as well, which keep it where it wants to be I'm sure. With a manual that 800-1500rpm range really matters. That's where I'm curious how these higher-strung 3.0 I6 diesels perform (LM2...
This 3.0 LM2 makes 500lbs of torque at 1500rpm. That’s what is so nice about it compared to gas engines. With the LT1 I took out needs around 4500rpm to match the torque numbers. Which will probably never be seen on slow speed trails. Baja maybe...
Interesting, I (Canadian) come from a 3FE 80 series that has a manual swap, in a kitted out (heavy) 80. I recently did a Cape York trip in a loaded and mildly tuned diesel 4JJ1 Colorado with a 5 speed. On paper, it blew the 3FE out of the water...
In the market for better shocks - also interested in some long term reviews. My 80 is running on OME 850/863, airbags in the rear. Steel front bumper, winch, dual battery, sliders, aux fuel tank, tire carrier, drawers, roof rack, roof tent, 270...
Bumpity bump bump
Surely some of you have been running IMS for quite some time now. How about posting up some photos of them on your rigs? I'd especially like to see some of the earlier users of them, to show how they've lasted over time. I...
I really wish I wouldve seen this before my 1HDFTE mission. 😅. Now I feel like I need a bigger turbo to make me feel better about those torque numbers.
If I was to do another diesel swap, I think I'd lean towards this. The logistics of finding...
Very cool swap, I was wondering when/if ever someone was going to do this. Would be interested in fuel figures for conservative driving as well as however it is you drive normally (for scientific purposes ;))
I'm also curious, how busy and...
