Purchased 1976 Anyone have history?
Hi, I have been align and looking for awhile now. I recently purchased this 1976 on eBay and heading out this weekend to pick it up. It is located in Kentucky , has Nebraska plates that appear to have traveled with it for some time and owner has an open clean matching title. A previous owner started body work on the rear panels and current owner said this was passed though and auction and he couldn't pass it up. I know a lot of these travel and pop back up. It will be heading back to Ohio with me. Any previous history on this rig would be appreciated. Has anyone seen this before?
Originally a TX truck. I've owned it about 5 years. The truck was repainted at some point to black, and the previous owner appears to have rattle canned the rear hatch & hard top. The paint never really bothered me, so I haven't touched it. There are a few spots of body rust (shown in photos) but nothing structural. The speedo cable wasn't connected when I bought it (assumed broken), so the mileage/odometer is inaccurate. Unsure of actual mileage. Original 1F engine. 3-speed on the floor. I had RedLine Landcruisers do some work to the truck last summer (receipts available). Key upgrades: -2.5" lift -Bilstein 5100 shocks -front & rear greasable shackles -disc brakes all around (+ new SS brake lines) -new 80-series aisin brake master...
1980 FJ40, Sky Blue, Frame off restored. Wyoming
Absolutely beautiful, frame off, nut and bolt restoration! This 1980 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-40 got the whole kit and caboodle! There is less than 100 miles on this truck since restoration. This dry western truck was taken off the frame, the frame was blasted and the body was taken down to the metal. What little rust there was got cut out and replaced with correct-gauge, better-than-OEM quality metal. I have pics of the complete restoration and am happy to share with any interested parties. The motor, trans and t-case were rebuilt. She enjoys new brakes, re-sealed axles and new exhaust. The interior is pretty much all new. The seats have been reupholstered with factory style upholstery along with a new OEM headliner. All new OEM...

1976 FJ40 **Atlanta, GA**
1976 FJ40 It's time to pass the 40 on to the next owner, hopefully a Mud member who will use it more often and has more room than I do! I have 4 kids, two other hobby cars, a two car garage, and something has to go. I've had a ton of fun with this truck. I bought it off of CL in Suwannee, GA in November of 2014. I have no history on the truck prior other than it came from Arkansas at some point. It appears to be a southern truck based on the condition. It ran well enough to make it home, but it was tired and in need of some attention. So I went to work... Exterior: In my search for a 40 I was mainly concerned about the frame and body rust/rot. The remarkable thing about this truck is its originality and body/frame condition. The...
I am a frequent lurker on the site and absolute amateur when it comes to cruisers... but have been in love with them for a long time. I've learned a lot by just reading comments in the classifieds (haven't ventured into other forums yet). I was curious to get some opinions on the following 40 since she's in my backyard. Obviously pictures can only tell so much but wanted to get some opinions on the post. Rust in pan/body too severe? Rear fender mod a red flag for more rust back there? Obviously plan to take a look in person soon but thought I'd try and solicit some advice ahead of that look. Thanks in advance for the help to a rookie. 1973 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40
1972 fj40 Denver
I have decided to sell this fj40 I bought a while ago. Tub has very little rust. I have checked it over pretty closely for hidden primers over rust and it's all pretty solid.,Frame has been stripped and painted. Last owner was doing a v8 swap with a 305 TBI to 700r4 to stock 40 series tcase via AA adapter but only got the setup mounted in frame. Has new body mounts, spring bushings, newer style jump seats and rollbar. New owner could continue with swap or put a toy motor back in. Has rear half barn doors that have some rust. Asking price is 3,500$. Pm me for more info if interested. Clean title
Wanted/Trade FJ40 in the Dallas / DFW / North Texas area
I'm located in the North Texas area looking for a FJ55 or FJ40 in decent to good condition. (Cash or Trade) Preferences: FJ55 or FJ40 ---> Could consider FJ60 or FzJ80 but would have to be very nice. I prefer minimal to low rust and complete (not a basket case project) Prefer a running / driving V8 conversion (Vortec or LS engine) but I'm also ok with a stock motor if it was a strong 2F, etc..) Prefer running Driving rig, but if it is in Good condition, just missing drive train, I'm ok with that too, I'll just swap in a LS (If it doesn't have a drivetrain, it would really need to be nice. I prefer a cash (plus) trade deal because I no longer need my current Rig but I have cash so I would consider an outright cash purchase ($5000 -...
1976 FJ40 - Sacramento, CA
Not mine. Seller is asking $15,500 and seems pretty firm on that price. He knows he has a classic and looks at it as a real fun father-son project and not a real lot-a-work to restore. moving, must sell, 1976 toyota land cruiser I talked with the seller and looked at the truck. Here's my take-away: Last registered in 1990 and has apparently been sitting for approximately 26 years. Original motor was replaced in the 1980's with a SBC, which was blown and then removed. Currently no engine in the rig, although the seller has a 2F(?) engine that goes with it, separately. In California it would need to pass smog and I don't know if the engine has all the smog components, or what it looks like inside, or how long it's been sitting...
SOLD. I bought this truck from an old friend with intentions of putting it back together. Instead, I've spent time on a 40 restoration and I won't need both. He was driving it around town up to two years ago when his son began pulling it apart with high hopes of a frame-off restoration. Frankly, the frame is super solid and the truck is a great original driver, but there is minor rust with a couple of holes in the sill and in a few sheet metal pieces (glove box, front floors, etc). Nothing terrible and better than most you see, but the tub would need metal work for a full restore. In my opinion, this would make a good original driver (other than wheels) when put back together, or could be used for a nice resto-mod. Original paint...
