1978 FJ40 LandCruiser 63,582 original miles $19,750.00
History:
First purchased in Alabama. Third owner did an “extensive disassemble” restoration in 2007 at approximately 38K miles. (see pics) At that time, in addition to the body work / paint, the following was done:
Body – new weather stripping on door and windows; new fuel tank; new windshield; new emblems; new wiper arms and hardware; new front fender marker lights, taillight lens, and reflectors; remanufactured drivers side window regulator; new hood hardware; new side mirrors; new factory antenna; new rear door lockset.
Interior – repainted at time of body work; new white headliner; new high density front seat cushions; new front seat upholstery; new dash pad; new sun visors; new leather steering wheel cover; new inside door pulls; new/upgraded 3-point seat belts; new rear cargo mat; new front floor mats; new rear view mirror
Mechanical – New OEM clutch, pressure plate, release and pilot bearings; new rear main seal; new brake pad and shoes; new exhaust system; new shocks; new steering damper; new valve cover gasket; new 4-core radiator and hoses; new radiator overflow tank; new thermostat and gasket; new voltage regulator; new tie rod ends; new center arm and top drag link kits; new steering sector shaft seal
Tires and rims – rims painted factory silver; new BFG AT 30X9.5 (5); new factory hub caps, new lug nuts
I purchased this FJ40 in November 2010 at approximately 42K miles with the following completed since then.
Mechanical –
Febuary ’11 – Complete engine re-build at 43867 miles; Man-a-fre FJ40 Power Performance Pack (ceramic tuned header, Weber carb, DUI distributor and wires); 60 series power steering conversion; transfer case rebuild; Vintage Air AC installation; complete stainless exhaust system (all work listed done by IPOR)
August ’11 – new starter, fuel pump, 40 amp alternator
January ’12 – new timing cover with new front and rear main seal
Miscellaneous –
“Sound-deadening” interior with Ensolite and RAAMat BXT II (RAAMaudio http://www.raamaudio.com) and complete carpet kit from Cruiser Solutions (http://cruisersolutions.com);
Tuffy center console; Sony DSX S200X AM/FM USB/IPOD sound system with front kick panel speakers and rear speakers; new Round-Eyes headlights, replaced all lights with LED bulbs; new receiver hitch (Cool Cruisers of Texas - http://coolfj40.stores.yahoo.net)
General:
This has been my DD since purchased (except downtime when work being done). Runs and drives great with no problems. My initial intent with this vehicle was to eventually perform a frame-off restoration. Unfortunately, that is no longer part of my future plans and have decided to sell. Underlying rust has began to show on the tub, sills & bottom of doors.
Additional miscellaneous parts included and not for sale separately (eg. - original carb, passenger grab handle, oil pan, original center console, original heater box, …)
