Well I finally got a rainy day to start my newly acquired piggie thread...
So about a month or so ago a 55 popped up on my local craigslist a few towns over from me. After some hemmin and hawin I decided to call the guy. When he told me it was an ebay purchase from Texas I just had to go see the southern piggie.
First thing the next morning Scarlette and I packed a diaper bag and headed west. Of course, Mother Nature finally decided to bless us with some much needed snow. Upon arriving at the dudes house, it was apparent this piggie was comin home with us. Besides being hit in the pass front, this piggie was a gem! In these parts, 35 year old vehicles are almost never rot free. The seller informed me that I had to act fast cause someone else (whom to his surprise I guessed right away) was comin to look at it. I wiped the 4" of snow off the rain gutters to check for rot and finding nothing but patinaed metal, we headed to the ATM.
The story goes the PO I bought it from works at a repair shop in Litchfield, Ct ($$$). One of their customers had a 55 with a blown motor and having no luck finding a 2F locally
, they bought this one off ebay from Texas and had it shipped to Ct as a donor vehicle. By the looks of it, I believe this 55 was involved in an accident and then set out to pasture to age like fine wine somewhere dry in Texas. It seems that at that time, it may have been picked for small parts ie door handles and such. It then made it's way north, donated its motor, lost its driveshafts, pinion flanges (pita!), steering column, and misc other parts. It did however come with the "blown" 2F from the other rig.
The next weekend, the PO delivered it to its new stye, my garage. Since then, I've cleaned her out, once'd over her about a million times, and cleaned the years of gunk out of the interior. I managed to find the taillight lenses, hubcaps, headlight rounds and trim rings, door cards and a bunch of other stuff sickin around inside. To my surprise, the original tools are still under the seat and the factory spare is still there! That Snocruiser #6! Also inside was the 4speed tranny and trans from one of the two rigs.
