So now that Christmas is over, I'd like to do some wheeling. I haven't been out at all this month and I've got the itch.

Anyone interested in a run this Saturday (29th)? I'm thinking Upper Coyote Canyon (Anza) or maybe Corral Canyon.
 
Sounds like fun but I'll probably be working on my rig. My rig's ass is a little naked right now:eek::o
 
I fly back on Friday afternoon, and will be in dire need of a wheelin trip. I'm allready in severe withdrawl, and it's only Wednesday. My uncle has a 4 wheel drive Suburban, and I've been trying to get him to let me take the sucker down some dirt roads out here in Ohio. He's not going for it. So put me down for whatever.

I know Tare is itching to get out as well. If you mention Truckhaven you might just get him onboard as well. I've never done Corral Canyon, but have seen pictures and your video, and would love to go get me some of that. What time were you thinking of meeting?

Is the bumper going to be finished for Baja??

I'm thinking of meeting around 8, but I'm flexible. I've got to find out how much of Corral Canyon is open. A good part of it may still be closed and if that's the case, I think I'd like to explore Upper Coyote (Horse Canyon). Anza is closer to you.
 
I think some guys over on adv4x4 just did Corral cayon, maybe they would know. But as I said, anything is ok with me. If we go to AB we could maybe get Tare to come along. I know he is a big fan of the Truckhaven area, but he has never done Coyote Canyon, and I think he would like it.

Hey Tare, how bout it? We could meet at the circle @ say 9:00?

Upper Coyote Canyon is in Anza. You go through Temecula to get there. See map: Google Maps

Upper Coyote Canyon is not accessible through Anza Borrego (any more).

Here is a video of the last trip out there. We didn't get to venture up into the canyon as far as we wanted. It got too late. YouTube - Upper Coyote Canyon

:lol: That's what I'm shootin' for. I plan on working on it a little today. It's actually turning out to be a little more time consuming (when I only work on it 1 day a week) than I was hoping for.

I spoke with Tare, he's got family in town so he's a no-go

I might have an issue at home though. The neighbor who is taking care of the cats while I'm gone called and said one of them is sick. She took it to the vet. I will get a report on the critters condition later today. Hopefully it will be a non-issue. I keep you posted.

No, I was holding out on possibly getting one pre-powder coated so I could have it match my rear bumper. The Slee powder coating is a little too glossy for me I think. It's different from their/your rear bumper too. They had alot in stock when I called them last and weren't planning on ordering replacements soon.
I may just bite the bullet and order one, sandblast and re-powdercoat it. We'll see.

Edit: I didn't get crap done on my bumper today either:rolleyes:
I had to take Zoey in to get spayed this morning and I really want to get her back home:frown:
 
I just got back from picking up the critter at the vet. Unfortunatly I will need to stick around the house this weekend to keep an eye on her. So I will not be joining you tomorrow. Sorry dude, hope you have a good time.

Yep, I got out there. Another fantastic run. John (from Adv4x4) and I went out to Horse Canyon. We went as far as we could. You'd need a rock buggy to go further. There are a couple of very tight squeezes towards the end. I couldn't believe I fit!! However, the last one took a bite of my rear DS door flare (surprise, surprise). Most of the obstacles I remembered from May had changed quite a bit. We also ran up another (very rocky) wash near the "water crossing".

We ran into a couple other guys who were just tooling around out there. We invited along to Horse Cyn. One of the guys had a new 4Runner. We managed to mangle both of his running boards.

I'll post some pictures and videos when I go through them.
 
I'm glad you were able to go today. Sounds like you had a good time. Is Horse Canyon the left turn that goes north on the google map you linked to?

philos1, another buddy of mine and I are going out there on Monday. If you want to go we could meetup at the same spot off the 15.
 
How much further were you guys able to go than last time? I would have liked to go but I spent all day grinding and welding instead, woo hoo!
 
NICE! Glad you got to go and it sounds like it was a good time too.

cmjrfan8 - I may just make that. My buddy up here is still undecided about doing a run up this way. I'll see if I can get him to drive south, or find out if he really wants to get out :D

I'll let you know.
