Got fed up with the Civic and emissions so I sold it last weekend for $800. Yesterday we finally found a 4runner up in Cottage Grove. It's a 99 SR5, V6, 5speed. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a manual transmission in the newer years! I paid $6700 for it and it has 174k but you would never believe it. The paint is an 8 out of 10 and the only problem in the interior is a tear in the drivers seat bolster. The engine is bone stock and looks absolutely immaculate! There is nothing that looks touched or out of place on this truck. The tires are crap (anyone have some 16" A/T's??) and the dash clock doesn't work but there isn't much else wrong besides that. Plans for this thing is a 3" lift with 33's and a e-locker for the rear. Maybe some armor and a place to hang my winch and that's about it. I can finally join you guys on the longer camping trips with the family! and yes, I did get it a little muddy last night but the tires are so bald I didn't want to risk getting stuck.

Great find! :D

Time to wrench?! Looks nice.

Looks like it needs some pin stripping and other memorabilia. Otherwise, looks great.

Found out my 4runner has larger than stock tires already, they are a metric 32" on a 16" rim off a 4runner limited...it was supposed to from the factory with a 28" tire on a 15" rim, I could use some 33's. I'll be ordering just a spacer lift soon and then upgrading to some coilovers when I get bored with that.

Looks like 80 series front springs will work on the rear of my 4runner and give a 2 1/2" lift. Anyone have a set of stock springs laying around?

Jerod, do you know which springs you have? They are all color coded and depending on which ones they all give a different amount of lift. Some are over 6"!

Kief, if this engine ever dies I will definitely look into that guy in Bend with the diesel half cuts, that would be SWEET! The 3.4 is a stupid reliable engine though, I've seen 350k on some of them. Many are well past 200k on craigslist and are still selling for $5000!

Nick, tires are a tad too big... besides the fact that they are all different kinds!

Anyone got a decent set of aluminum 6 lug rims? Most everything out there is either in a 15" or 17"!

And what's the beef with that?:hhmm: They're round aren't they?
Having sliced the side walls on 3 in the last 3 years and replacing them with used, that's exactly what I've ended up with.
Seem to be quite the topic of conversation with my local club members. Bastids!

You just tell them that if their tires match, then are either not wheeling hard enough, or have too much money... :flipoff2:

Just an FYI, if they came from Gabe's LX, the LX springs are softer, or people report. May not make a difference with the weight of the 4runner though.

yes

Has anyone heard anything about these guys in Bend? I would love to do a swap when I finally kill my engine in the 60:)

I talked to them to find out if they ever came across 12hdt or other late model landcruiser 1/2 cuts.

He said rarely but the last one they were offered was 10k for a low mile unit... then of course you have to install it, hopefully everything flip/flops.. there will be differences in a gasser/different year model and left to right differences so costs go up from there...

Kief,
I talked to them today as well. Same info as above but they have also never done one of these 60 swaps themselves. He did mention he could get 80 diesels easier than a 60 for all of you 80 folks out there. It sounds like I'm stuck with my very reliable but slow stock engine for awhile longer.
