So my buddies and I went up to Bald today. Well almost, he couldn't get up a slushy snow covered hill cause his tires were not as good as they used to be. My gps said we were within 2000 feet but it was super foggy and I didn't want to push it alone on my first outing. I broke some stuff, oh well. I'll do a photo timeline.
After airing down we went up to B Rock (I think that's what it's called). I don't have any pics from the first part because I was too busy driving. My buddy got some Video's though I'll have to get them and post them up.
Here we are at the first stop. It was foggy the first time.
I spent a good portion of the day installing that antenna there. PITA really. I need to tune it. Anyone have an SWR meter?
After crossing a creek (there was lots of metal guard rails that almost got me) I parked here and waited for my buddy to winch himself out of a hole on the other side of the creek. We met up a little ways down the trail.
I need a lift and bigger tires. I had one side in a creek carved out in what used to be a tire track and the other up on the hard packed snow. My diffs got stuck and I had to be pulled out.
After my buddy failed to make it up a slushy hill I gave it a shot. I guess more weight less air and having a Yota allowed me to make it up. My GPS said we were only 2000 feet or so away from Bald but it was so foggy I couldn't see. Decided to climb on a rock while I waited for him to give it a few more tries.
All 4 wheels were touching. Not bad for a 15 year old suspension.
Where I made it to before turning around.
So on the way back down I got stuck on a some snow or ice or something. I put it into reverse backed up and when I put it into drive the rig died. It Wouldn't start. Just sputter and die. I called and Called on the radio but never got an answer. Little did I know that they got stuck up ahead too. When they (my other buddy had moved to the jeep for a little bit) noticed I wasn't around the unstuck themselves and came back. Thank God he had some tape. I'm guessing my MAF sensor was telling the motor that there was no air going in.
Stopped back at B Rock (I hope I'm getting that right) for lunch and playtime for Lilly.
I dunno how to embed the Video so here's a linkLunch Break
After Lunch we headed back down. My buddy conned me into going down a step rock face. Pucker Factor was about 8 and and 80 doesn't have nearly the same departure angle as a Wrangler. I ripped on my Flare back up to get into position. I just heard CRUNCH hopped out to see what it was and my flare with mudflap attached was under my tire. Didn't snap a pic but I shoulda. I also Messed up my Front License plate on the way down too. Not sure where though. Took some more pics when I got home.
Flare Carnage
Messed up my "bumper/Cap" too
Yep
