Now that the boys drive we take 2 LCs on vacation

Every year we go intothe back country we load the crap out of the wagon pack the dogs and two boys, dirtbike and off we go into the bush in search for some nice out of the way fishy lakes.
Well this year with both of the boys licenced todrive we lightened up the load by taking two cruisers we were able to bring along a second dirt bike.

This year we started off for the Nahatlach spent a couple of hours checking both sides of the river out looking for that perfect spot.
Finally we settled in on a really nice scenic campsite at the bottom of Hammon lake which is one of the smaller lakes that drains from the Nahatlach.

We spent a couple of days there exploring this was a old Hobits cabin we stumbled across on a old trail but could not do much due to some fires in the area north and south of us,the first 2 days we camped for free but on monday the parks truck pulled up and charged us $13 to stay and another $7 for the second vehicle.
Well we payed for that night and decided we are not paying $20 a night for no camp fires and no fresh water.
We packed up the next day and headed up to the Chataway lake area the next morning,we drove up to Spences Bridge then turned towards Merritt about a third of the way down the highway we cut off and into the hills

Our next destination was Island lake also known as Big Ok lake we stumbled on this one last year and turned out to be a nice area.
The area backs onto the mines and there is an old mine with some old log buildings and a abandond mine that the boys went into this trip to explore you know how teenagers are they have to check it out.

The weather did not cooperate in our favour after having that hot stretch a week earlier but we always travel prepared for bad weather.
We spent four days here exploring, relaxing, dirt biking, and fishing this lake has huge trout and gets very little fishing pressure since it is a restricted trophy lake.

Some pics of our campsite the road into the campsite is a bouldary road in so you don't see the weekend car camping crowd and this year I decided to take the old back road in in that no one uses except for the ATVers that explore the area.
This is our out door shower.

Trophy lake is restricted to fly fishing only and catch and release these lakes usually have monster trout unless they experience winter kill off.

I think I might actually be able to dust off the jon boat and go one more time in the Fall with Sheldon. I'll be choked if I con't end up fishing at least twice this year...far cry from the 100 days I spent on the water the year before I got married. :rolleyes2:

Wait till you have wee ones. Fishing will become a dirty word. :crybaby: Now mine are bigger, they all like fishing and usually outfish the old man.

I remember those days of jumping in the 42 and heading out anytime I wanted.
Awe weren't those the days.
Now the boy are teens they have the option to come along or stay home those days are coming back.
