Did you say you were using the H151 as the 5 speed gear box for this rig? Did you also go with the HF1A part time transfer case with PTO or did you stick with the HF2AV full time case with the viscous coupler?

If you went with the H151, where did you source it from and what bell housing did you use?

The owner of manafre had it. He was going to use it in something like this but opted out. He had the bell housing, flywheel, trans, throwout, and fork. I had to get the rest from Specter, like the clutch, which happens to be an 11 disc and pressure plate. Just my luck the 96-97 version of the H151. This hasn't hit dirt yet, but it's running and I'm installing the drive lines tomorrow. I'm not sure if it's full time or part time yet since the trans was used and I didn't get any info on it a year ago when I bought it. Go figure. Any marking on the outside of the transfer that would indicate HF1A or HF2AV???

HF1A and HF2AV both came attached to the H151 for Australia and other non-NA markets.

The HF2AV will be distinguishable by the fact that it has a very long rear extension housing to accommodate the viscous coupler.

The HF1A will not have a long rear extension housing and will have a PTO case area cover to accommodate the addition of the PTO output shaft if needed.

From the pics it's not real clear--looks like a part time case.

Nice project.

It appears as though the transfer is a HF1A (short output housing). The HF2AV probably wouldn't work very well with the longer output housing in such a short wheelbase.

BTW...nice Volvo wagon in the background.

This is the thread I was looking for.....like the pics, interesting project. I'm glad you came back focused on the build and posted this new thread.

Subscribed.

That there is a HF2A full time case.
The rear output on an HF1A is super stubby.

Looks like cool project.
