This guy is crazy to ask such a price...

Toyota : Land Cruiser - (eBay.ca item 250302748255 end time 08-Oct-08 15:11:18 EDT)

ebay item : 250302748255

I remember this truck, because I sold it to him...

It was posted on this forum for many months before this guy bought it. Seems like he never registered it in Canada. I don't know where he rebuilt the engine 90 000 km ago, as it wasn't even mine then at 290 000 km.

I sold it to him in Sept 2005 at 337 000 km for less than $18,000.

He did a paint job (truck was red), added some gauges, an AXT kit, rebuilt the engine, removed the super adjustable seats for some stock ones, added some cosmetics inside (roof) and a bull bar.

It looks good, but I doubt it will go for $29K...

It looks pretty nice, I impressed by how much space they have in the back, I had never seen that done in a troopie.

But 29k$ is way too much money for 20+ year old vehicle, even if it's extremely rare in the US, it's not a collectible or anything like that.

holy crap, lets compare apples to apples and a BJ73 IS NOT a troopie by any stretch of the imagination.

a vehicle is worth what a buyer is willing to pay and a decked out troopie is worth $25K, 30K to the right person...

go buy a troopie in NA, do the work that has been done to this one (IF it actually has been) and see what the bill is... then come back and post how outrageous this price is...

I agree with wayne... although I would never personally purchase the rig.... I bet the guy is just trying to cover his costs.... Some of our trucks can become money pits very soon.... I'm hoping my pit is almost full of money :)

HMMMMM, I like the westphalia roof, mileage way too high for my liking,

I drove the truck for a year, it was a great rig.

He probably put down a lot of cash on it, but even if it is expensive, it is one hell of a camper truck.

The truck was outfitted originally to do the Trans americas trip (Argentina to Alaska) by a couple of Austrians, from whom I bought the truck.

The AXT was almost mandatory in a truck that size to give it a little more pep.
The interior is all removable if you need the full space of the back and the westfalia roof is great.

Anyways, I wish I still had the rig sometimes as I miss it. It has been 3 years now since I sold it...

Nice cruiser.

The problem is that, if you live in USA, in 2 years the value of that cruiser will drop dramatically because of the 25 year rule. Lots of people will begin importing them. In fact, the value will probably drop drastically in one year as the 1985 model cruisers become eligible for importation....which will include 75-series troopies.

The funny thing is the guy wants to sell it and move to Costa Rica. The prices he is asking will buy him a brand new troopy in Costa.
