75 series front brake pad xref

If you are looking for new brake pads and have a 75 series pickup or troopy from 95-99' you can use the pads from a 95 Toyota Tacoma (4x4 v6), they are the same.

I am not sure what year these new calipers started in but they are the ones with vanes on the outside of the caliper.

I went to replace the pads on my Troopy a while a go and found the regular land cruiser pads were not going to work. I spend some time at the parts store yesterday and found the exact match. Not sure what year they started or ended but if you ask for the 95' Taco 4x4 with v6 you will get the correct pads.

Here's an update on the cross reference.

Did a little digging, and the front caliper is the same as the 89-95 V-6 4Runner, and the pads to match. Part numbers are exactly the same. Easy to get in N.A.

Toyota P/N
Caliper: 47730‑35080 RH / 47750‑35080 LH
Pad set: 04465‑60030

All the fit stuff, clips and stuff should all be the same. Rotors I'm still checking on, but I'm pretty sure they are the same as the 40/60 series rotors


The rear calipers and pads are the same as the 80 series cruisers, also easy to get in NA.

The rotors match up to something like the Tacoma in NA, I just haven't figured out what yet:hhmm: But, there is a DBA rotor that has the same dimensions that may fit, the 787SL/SR are then listed rotor for the '92 > 75 series, but the DBA-4000 4793SR/SL is the same dimensions as the troopie rotor, I may have to try them out

So, progress on the rotor cross reference.

The front rotors are 40/60 series rotors

The rears look like they are the same as the 2003-2007 4Runner rear rotors. Measurements are the same as the post '92 75 series. Still need to verify

I think the HJ75 has a different caliper to the HZJ75,but same rotor.
Brake booster and MC are the same,probably the same as a 60 series.
HJ75 also use the same caliper and pads as a 60

Well, it looks like everything changed in the early 90s for the 75 series to the hodge-podge parts. You had the HP front axle, and all different brake parts.

For the front pads, rotors, and calipers, the early 70 series all should use the 40/60 stuff. My '85 BJ-70 took everything off a 40/60 series cruiser when I re-did the front brakes. The rear drum stuff should be similar, but the drums and cylinders are still available thru Mr. Yota I think. Plus, RADD, ENS and 4Wheel Auto all still carry the early model 7x series stuff.

Not sure on the booster and MC, I haven't gotten that far:grinpimp:
 
The early 7* series are virtually the same as a 60 in everything but the body shape.
 
Well at least on my Cruiser ( 1985 HJ75 ) the brakes are adequate but certainly not great. and this is after significant brake work. My plan is the change the brake master cylinder next and if all else fails, the booster.

yeah, the brakes on the troopie aren't great either, which is why I started to figure out the NA parts so I can get all new stuff on there without getting from AUS land. I'm hoping with new calipers, rotors and pads that'll help slow me down better than I do now. That's a big truck to stop:grinpimp:

I guess that is why Toyota designed them to go slow.:)

HZJ has a bigger front caliper, yes same rotor.:) Hilux having the same big caliper as well.
But interchangeable if you want to, but slight mod on the back plate.

Dont get your hopes up too much. I just bought and fitted new DBA rotors and Bendix pads all round and completely replaced all the movings parts in the rear handbrake drum and bled them with new fluid.
I had to do an emergency stop the other day,and while I have a nice hard pedal,it wasnt much different from before.
At least the handbrake works now.

Exactly my experience:o. My ole HJ45 pickup had far better brakes.
Someone once said that you should allow at least one "car length" for every 10 mph when following another vehicle....with these trucks that rule of thumb should be increased somewhat.:)
