What is this electrical connector in the cargo area?

Behind the tool kit, near the driver side rear speaker. You can see it in the center of the photo.

There's a 12V+ in there I want to tap into for a power outlet, but I'd like to know what else that circuit is for.

Too light a gauge for trailer, not aftermarket, and the wiper pump has its own wiring. It's bundled in the same loom as the rear speaker wiring, and that loom continues on to the taillights and rear electrics. It's an 8 pin Molex connector with about 4 pins occupied. One of them is 12V+ with the ignition off.

if you do decide to wire it up as an outlet be sure to post up some pictures of how you mount it! the options are endless as far as uses for a plug in the cargo area go. :hhmm:

I realize this is a 7 year old thread.. But I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the connector shown above. I am reworking my entire harness and located this. It is a 8 pin connector, but only has 7 pins. There are 4 heavier wires (14ga?) White\Black, Green, Red, and Blue. The Blue is the only thing connected at the main harness and it goes to the Fuse Block connecting to the Power Circuit Breaker. There are also 3 smaller wires (18 to 20ga?) those colors are Red\Yellow, Green\Yellow, and pink? Those 3 wires are not connected in the main harness either.

Any thoughts?

Hmm... On my hj61 I have some relays back there for central locking and power windows, if I remember correctly.

Try connecting a light to it and pulling fuses until it goes out, then you'll at least figure out where it's in the electric schematic.
